Wanted to get the clutching a little more trail friendly so I put some heavy hitters in that I had on the shelf, didn't want to have to mess with rivets. I have the primary set to engage at 3900 and when I pin the throttle it will run right up to 8500 and then on the top end runs up to 8650. The sled runs really strong and the clutches are running cool but it could use a little more backshift. I am using a 51/43 helix with the silver spring at 70 degrees twist in the secondary. My question is would going to a shallower helix be the way to go to help with a better backshift? The 51 initial might be a bit much off the very bottom, and I see on here in the Tech area that it's recommended to use shallower angles when using heavy weights and stiff springs. The primary has the weights at 50grams total and a white spring, so it's quite a bit more than stock. The rest of the mods on the motor are smaller head gasket, reed spacers, and silencer bored out. If there's a better way to go than a shallower helix I will try that too if it will help with the backshifting. Thanks for any recommendations.

I have used the heavy hitters & they are not backshift friendly. You could get em better with a shallower helix & keep the tip light in the primary weights but it won,t accelerate as well.

Thanks for the input. I actually wondered about putting the heavy hitters in since I hadn't really seen many riders using them in a 600, just thought I would try since I had them. I had the 8CA's in but thought I would try something different that maybe worked a little better in the trails. What would be a good stock weight to use? I'm sure you have tried them all and know how they work a lot better then me. I just enjoy playing with the clutches to see how they work with different set-ups. Thanks for your help.

huh, i never had problems backshifting w/H/H's....i dunno?? i think that the silver spring is a bit much for that helix...JMO.

Chief, what setup are you running again with you HH's? I am putting them in big Bore and starting from scratch in terms of tuning. Pat Hauck said they should work good. I haven't tried them yet but was wondering if you or anyone has a "starting point" a guy can start with. Thanks!
