Hi everyone,
I am having some issues with my 2000 SRX (with 1,800 miles), and I need some help. The first time that it was used for the 09-10 season was at the end of December, and it ran fine. I then dropped it off at the shop for the "pre season" service/check-up on Jan 1. They said everything was perfect, and I just got around to picking up the sled last weekend. Last weekend I put about 100 easy and somewhat slow trail miles on the SRX, and it seemed fine. Well this weekend I took the SRX to Vermont, and that is where the trouble started...........
On Saturday I did a WOT run across Island Pond, and it hit about 95MPH (it would not do anymore than that), and it did not have the "rip your arms out" power that it should have. I also did a two more WOT runs and some trail riding on Saturday. At one point on Saturday my GF rode the SRX, and in her words, "the sled is not riding right".
Then Sunday I started the SRX in the morning, and the coolant light was on, and it would not shut off. I checked the coolant, and it seems fine? So now it is still low on power, and the coolant light is on! Any ideas?
The only thing that I can add is that I noticed on Saturday that the shop screwed up the spark plugs during the pre-season service. In two of the cyl's they had the correct BR9ECS's ,and in one cyl they had a BR9ES. Could the one spark plug have messed up anything?
Thanks,
Zack

The sled seems to run ok....The weird thing with the temp light is that when it first starts the light is of, the as soon as you touch the gas, it goes on and stays on?

My guess is the shop made a mistake. I will talk to them about it, as they charged me for 3 BR9ECS's, and only gave me two. I hope it is something simple. I have read other posts, and many people have a flashing temp light, I however a constant temp light?

Ok I just looked at the SRX. When I look for a cable issue, where does the pull thru occur, on the engine end or the servo end? How can I look at the cables and tell?
Also I pulled the plugs and they all look fine, perhaps a bit dark, but not white or gray.

The cable "pull-through" happens at the top of the power valve where the cable connects to the valve. If the valve gets stuck in the valve slot, the servo has enough force over time to deform the top of the valve allowingthe end of the cable to pull through the valve.
Does the coolant indicator light come on when you start the engine from cold? If so, it is either the wiring or a bad sensor. Once you start the engine from it being cold, you can unplug the connector from the sensor to see if the light goes out. That will indicate if the problem is the sensor or the wiring.
When was the last time you cleaned or had the carbs cleaned?? This is an improtant must do task at the beginning of every season.

Having a constant temp light, maybe something in the chassis wiring, bad ground, rub through, PV pull through??
I can see a PV pull through doing this, but it sounds like wiring to me... IMHO.
I would take a guess at a wiring problem is throwing fits to the CDI. Once again my humble opinion.

What I have noticed with the coolant light is that it will do it's three flash routine, then shut off. As soon as you touch the gas, the light comes on and stays on, even if the sled is totally cold.
The sled just had it's "pre-season" service at the start of Jan, where they said the carbs and PV's were cleaned?
