I can't remember now if mine is a 51/43 or 53/41 that I tried today. Why are you running the green? With the red it should turn more rpm than the stock helix. It's a shallow finish angle, should backshift pretty quick. That green ideally should make it over rev, and top speed should be lower...

Forsure the stock tip weight is 4.5 and 1st hole is 3.8? Just want to make sure when I change next weekend

don't want the belt to get sucked into the secondary to quickly and bog me

if the green won't show results ..will try the red spring. If I remember correctly last season's end...ran basically this setup and got 118 on the speedo, but more on hard surface and smooth without really much snow to hold me back.On the river we still have a lot of snow and expecting a slow down because of the friction factor compqare to icy surface..we'll see

well I had a great day today.Put on 70 miles of flawless riding.Tried the green and yeah it over-reved.Put red spring at 70 and still a tad over. Then tried 60 wrap with red spring and that 51/43 helix and I hit 104 on the river..snowpacked!!!Rpm's were 8500 to 8600 wot.So it will stay like this till the end of season unless we get a major dumping of snow..then I'll go back to 47 and 80 wrap. That 700 motor is one tuff motor. She is so snappy today..I have to hang on for dear life while climbing to 100.Instant pull when you nail ther throttle.Got to love it..
At 70 mph I pin it and ski's lift up a bit.Really torquey to,slow down around corner and pin it..it flies. Was hugging the river corners today at 80mph..right on.

I just got back in myself. I think I'm close, was revving around 8600. Have a mid range bog though, and I'm sure that one time when I was doing 40 mph and then punched it in about a foot of firm snow, my belt sucked down into the secondary. Had to let off and hit it again and then it went. Any suggestions? Maybe try a higher wrap? My set up again is 8dn-20s with 4.5 and 5.5 in tip. stock y-w-y primary spring, red secondary spring at 70 wrap and a 53/43 hauck helix. Gearing is 23/39. Brand new belt.

Put 180 miles on today. Sled ran alot better than yesterday. Temp was 20 early am, high 32. Bog was virtually gone that I had. Still going to try 3.8 in inner and see if any difference. Raced an apex and a 09 iq 800. Beat both from a 60 mph roll. Speedo showed 111, might have more but was pulling away from both. Apex gave the best run. I was prob 7 mph faster than the iq, about 3 to 4 faster than the apex. 150 rpm low on top end. Very good day

I raced a couple of airplanes playing on the River flying low,1 almost nailed me..close call. But caught up to them, passed the first guy and was up to the 2nd plane's azz.Ran out of room and around the corner at 100.That was cool to pass the friggin plane ..wish I had a camera.

haha. blue, i'm pretty sure 4.5's in both holes is too much weight for a stock engine with stock pipes without porting etc. even tho it ran good today, (was cooler than yesterday), the warm days really bog it down. Going to definitely switch the weight to 3.8, put spring wrap at 90, right now its at 9-1... Clutching will be spot on then, and no need to touch it until something else beats me... idk if an f-7 will outrun on top end to be honest. i was surprised i was that much quicker than apex and iq 800

Apex is heavy and the IQ probably sucked out.

I now (finally) have 8DN's with 4.5 in both, Y-S-Y spring, 54/44, silver at 6/2 and from a 10 mph roll it absolutely rocks all the way till the speedo is burried and the 03 F7 is behind me! From a 50 roll it isnt exactly a dog but far from perfect. Overall Im pleased especially considering it was in the low 30's weather and my 0-60 greatly improved compared to the stock primary (8Dn's and stock spring).Turk said:You are lacking throttle response because your set up is for best acceleration & top end. If you want to be fast you sacrifice backshift. You can,t have it all in clutching. You give something up to gain somwhere else.

unchained, you are running 8dn-20's? i dont see how your pulling 4.5 in each with a softer primary spring either, unless the silver is that much stiffer in the secondary...i dont have a silver spring, but i have a pink i tried, slightly stiffer than the silver. and crisp midrange, but didn't pull as hard, and less top end than with the red spring.. iq still supposed to have 145-150 hp, apex same... both of them were showing 105-108 on the speedo and i was pulling when mine showed 111. keeping in mind temps today were 30ish.
also unchained, how the hell are you burying the speedo, i cant see it happening on a warm day... lots of track spin or what? I'm getting lots of traction, 1000 ice screws in the lugs. mine rocks from a 10 mph roll also, but from 40 it isnt exactly a dog, but like you said isnt perfect... gotta keep in mind, these triples need RPM, and around 40-50, the rpms are under 6000...
have you GPS'ed in warmer temps?

I GPS'd 101 yesterday in about 1/4 mile. 8dn-20's, WWW, 4.5 in heel, 5.5 in tip, Hauck Green Sec. spring at 50deg, 54/44 Hauck helix, 23/38 hyvo gears. Jumps out to 8100 and creeps up to 8400. I need more room. 35 degrees out.

I dont lie and I dont need attention. My description of how the sled performed with this clutching is simply--what it is. Im running an unstudded Hacksaw (really loose) and can touch 120 (speedo) on long hard packed (almost ice) roads. I have a Blackberry with GPS that I never remember to set-up before a ride but Im sure my speedo is 8-10 mph fast like the rest of them. Feel free to PM me anytime...

Spinning on ice roads. Never ran on one. Just a snowy lake I feel my 104 is good at 38* and prob 3 inches of snow. Speedo showed 109, 1000 ice screws

you can't compare ice to snow..2 different beasts there.Last year I was at 118 on speedo on basically ice and no studs.Today I was at 104 speedo snow packed surface and with studs.Studs are probably slowing me down some also.As long as I can get to 100 fast and easy..I am happy. You got to love the snap and the acceleration of the SRX.The pull is incredible to 100. I race airplanes on the river now..it is alot of friggin fun to blow by the plane that passed me earlier.I know I am doing much faster then speedo shows..my speedo must be hanging up..will check into it.

I think the plane has to do 160 mph to stay up..so I still passed him...man my speedo must really be off....lol

hahaha thats hilarious! and i thought only the f7 guys were the ones who would say, if my sled only had wings, it would fly...
