hey guys i have repaired well over 200 valves last year alone and some the coating is in bad shape ..and with the price on valves skyrocketing ..i will be repairing them and now RECOATING them to make them better than new for alot less than a new ones costs ...just wondering how many guys would be interested in having valves recoated ...ANYONE INTERESTED ? PLEASE LET ME KNOW
 
I might be sending two sets down for repair, and maybe some coating at the end of the month or so. thanks.
 
Same here I'd like to have these one recoated as there is some wear one the valves Thanks Andy
 
ok guys sounds like i am not wasting my time just got off the phone with the company i am gonna go with to do all my valves ..i am sending one to them today as a test sample ..and will have it back by the end of next week and will know a price than ...the more i send the better price he says he can give me ...and they got the fastest turn around time of 3 to 4 days instead of 2 to 3 weeks like the others i have talked with ...and it turns out my sales rep is from canada but is here in the states ..and on top of that his blood is blue like ours (yamaha rider) so ill keep this post going with progress on this ...so if you are serious about recoating please let me know how many you need done so i can get a accurate count on how many will be going on the first shipment and i we can get a good price on doing these thanks guys
 
My question is if the test valve is not going to be returned to you by the coating company until the end of next week how much longer is the turn around time going to be when/if this process is implemented into your repair procedure?
 
hey Rich,would you do a trade up.If one sends his pv's to you and you send equal pv's back at the same time for a little extra charge.I quess this wouldn't be done in Canada where harnessracer is your other depot.

i was told 3 to 5 days return time on the coating process and my time is usually 3to 5 days also ...so total would be around 2 weeks due to weekends .....now my task is finding as many valves as i can so i can just exchange valves now ...so i can just sell valves out rite and cut turn around time out ...just pay and ship ....as all the valves should be as good as new as long as they are not stuck and pulled out with vice grips and shaft torn up ....but the valve i sent had some pretty good damage to the shaft hoping coating will fill ...also talked about ceramic inpregnation and teflon inpregnation ...but i didnt want to alter the yamaha method ....

the coating is a anodizing hard coat that gives it a c60 hardness which is equal to diamonds i was told by the coater ....coating is critical for several reasons heat being a big factor since alumnium softens around 730 degrees ,coating also reduces friction greatly ,and REDUCES corrosion and carbon deposits ...and makes cleaning much easier ...i know cleaning them is a pain ...but try cleaning a set without coating ..it make the ones with coating seem like a peice of cake ..but we all know it is not ...
 
yes doug i am gonna try harder to get a bigger stock of valves so i can just sell repaired and recoated valves ..with a core charge to ensure i get old ones back to keep a good supply ...cause now valves got to come to me .than ship to coater ..ship back to me ..and than back to customer ...thats why i am trying to get the word out now before the season is here ...other wise its looking like 2 weeks or a bit more turn around time depending on holidays and weekends ....so anyone with old valves they have laying around i need them ..cause my next step is having new ones machined but that will just drive the overall cost up and i dont want to take anyones gas and oil money ...also i need to see how many harness has and mabe talk him into sending them all back and recoating all the ones he has to better serve canada .

Hey man, i need mine rebuilt and coated would be cool too... im from SUdbury how much would it cost me? or do you have some good ones done i can send mine and get new ones, or some that are done ?
 
Valve was stuck in cyl. Had a real hard time getting it out. Had to
pull in out with vise grips. The shaft now has some teeth marks on it. What's the best way to correct this so that I can re-use this valve.
 
You may want to talk to a guy named Jon Vandermueller... His father's name is Don and they own a coating company here in the Chicago Suburbs .. Lo-Ko performance coatings is the name of the company.. Don't be too judgemental on TEFLON COATINGS or CERAMIC COATINGS,,, BOTH have a better thermal limit than what you're coating on them right now.. Remember HARD ANODIZING is a form of PLASTIC and the TEFLON and also the CERAMIC have MUCH BETTER properties.. the reason YAMAHA doesn't use that is because of the COST.. if they make a HUNDRED THOUSAND valves,, and it costs them TEN DOLLARS EXTRA just to TEFLON COAT THEM EACH,,, that's a MILLION DOLLARS that they save by just SKIMPING (or hard anodizing instead of teflon coating) on the valve.. talk to DON or Jon,, they are SNOWMOBILE GURU" and know a LOT about high performance coatings...
