2002 thundercat 1000 hp

My buddie just bought a 02 thundercat 1000 just wondering what kinda hp these put out I know they weigh more than the srx but is the hpn to weight ratio close
 
I used to have the 1000 cats, if they are set up they are a weapon to be reckoned with, becarefull........
 
So idid the math a 02 thunder cat has about 3.3 hp for every pound an srx has 3.6 for every pound stock of course is there must be a big diff in gearing

I'll bleed blue for a long time. I'll never bleed green LOL I like the reliability too much, don't feel like walking home every time I ride ;)! :letitsnow
 
I have heard stories about a SRX taking a T-cat down. I dont remember the distance or what year both sleds were. I think it can be done but I dont think a SRX is gonna hang out with some of them on top end

I remember when they came out back in 93. They were 900's and everybody wanted one. They were tanks. not sure how they ran but I dont think they were extremely reliable.
 
yeah where are they today,don't see them running around as the SRX's are.My coussin had one and I used to hear him whip by my house and new it was him.But had a lot of clutch problems(blowing up) and the such.He rides no sleds anymore now.
 
was on a TY ride a few years ago and somebody with us has rented one of of those orange arctic cat cross fires. It had a few thousand miles on it.

Anyways, we stopped for a break on the trail for a few minutes and went to leave again. The sled would not pull over easily and would not start because the primary clutch was stuck in the full shift out position. i could never own a cat after i saw that

Therefore your theory is , if you rent a Acura , Gm , Ford , whatever from a rental company that everyone has abused , and the company has done no maintenance to , the vehicle is no good?....What the heck are you talking about ....or are you just typing ...

yes vince, im just typing

however, that theory would be inaccurate as I have heard and seen more problems with cat in general then any other sled brand. that is what I am talking about.

To make it fair, a yamaha rental sled of the same year, miles, and class of sled would not leave you standed like that on the trail with a clutch stuck in that position.
 
Tom if i wasn't on the yamaha team , i would post 100's of pics of sleds that show up @my shop, yes i only work on yammi's, some even show up towed by doo's polaris and even cat's if you can imagine ...

to make it fair , i have melted a helix into the secondary clutch on my own sled , must of been yamaha's fault or could it have been a bad clutch set up from the operator ?

bottom line is there all good till they break down , and ill let any brand tow me home
 
LOL ill tell you what though.. rental or not, I would not want to be "THAT GUY" that breaks down on a cat doo or poo with a yamaha group and have to be towed in.

next one i see, the sled is going on the you-tube. Of course I would want to be towed in myself by anybody and would gladly help another stranded sledder in anyway i could
