Well said WrdAl - I get a kick out of other sled owners always bashing Yamaha suspensions - I've been riding SRX's in the U.P. for the past four years and have probably rode close to 7000 miles - at the end of the day, I do less crying about my back then the guys riding other brands - not to mention the amount of riding time we have lost while they were wrenching on their sleds - granted the pre-98 sled suspensions were not the best - but anything newer than that has been just right for me - I consider my wife's SXR one of the best riding sleds I have ever been on - there is no match for Yamaha quality and reliability - to each their own

They'll be making the sleds you and your family wants.
Hey...I prefer beating up my body by flying over bumps at 60 on a Yamaha.

The only reason yamahas are fast in a 3 mile race is because they are the only sleds that can go full throttle for 3 miles striate without breaking down

The monoshock skid is brand new, so how is it outdated? If I had to guess, this skid will be what you will find it on nearly all 2006 short tracks. Also, the weight is getting better.
Oh yeah.......no matter how negative you want to be about this subject, you cant deny that Yamaha is making changes to their linup of sled based on what the consumer is telling them they want. (ie. better skid, lighter weight, longer tracks, etc.) If all your going to do here is complain, maybe you should go over to dootalk and tell them how much better your brand new rev is than your really old, really outdated Yamaha ever was.

hah! outdated skid polaris for oh about 15 yrs kept the same skid,i have logged 200 miles in one day on my sx with a LT skid went to bed and woke up the next day fired it up and rode for another 75 and im 40 yrs old and i dont ride like a wimp. a good sled is one you can count on but dont
bash on yamaha,i would like to see the manufacturers compile a recall list of all the sleds and see whos stack of paper is the biggest......and that is my thought of the day!

You guys are pretty rough on mr. 97piped700sx. I think that Yamaha often trails the market when it comes to introducing new technology and that's actually something I like about Yamaha. They don't use the consumer to test their final prototypes. I think if Yamaha thought they could build the same sled year after year and we would continue to buy them they would have no incentive to improve the product. So a few dissenting opinions on the current product isn't such a bad thing. I would love for Yamaha to build an ***-kicking 2 stoke ditch machine just to shut-up those that see Yamaha as a lesser manufacturer for not having one. I wouldn't buy one, but I'd still love to see it. The auto manufacturers call them halo vehicles that bring people into the dealerships to look at before they buy the latest mini-van/SUV/Pick-up. They aren't economically viable on their own, but they can bring excitment to the whole line and bring in people that wouldn't cross the street to look in a Yamaha dealers showroom. I also think we need to acknowledge the work that's been done to make the 2 stroke a viable option in an emissions controlled future. I grant you that the 4 stroke will probably always offer better longevity but fuel economy is way too close to call with an SDI rotax. With the investment Yamaha made in their 2 stroke YZ line for 05 there's still hope (slight) that they could surprise us again. They have HPDI technology in their outboards so much of the development bill has been paid. I for one have my fingers crossed. Pretty long-winded huh?
I just wish that someone who bought a 2005 Mtn Viper would realize that the rear skid on their new sled is so terribly outdated, and that they should sell it to me for a very cheap (goes with outdated) price . . .

Ding..LMAO...you are determined to get the skid....LOL
I hate posts like this and ussually stay away. But you can bring on any of the f cats or revs, and line them up against my 97 700 sx with ohlins long travel rears, and chances are in the ditches they won't pass me, and won't ride as smooth either. If you can't make a sled ride right, maybe its the throttle poker thats broke. Maxdlx

Actually, the Monoshock isnt the only new thing in the past 10 years.97piped700sx said:Mono shock only new thing in nearly 10 years and it is on heaviest sled Yammie makes. Yammie dont have a snowcross team for a reason they cant compete. So what does that say for the suspension??![]()

Yamaha's snocross team couldnt compete??? Are you serious? Chris Vincent won the 600 title on a Yamaha and if Nathan Titus hadnt messed up his knee he would have won the open title.
I really hope Yamaha gets back into sno-x so we can shut people like this up!
You know what, if you dont like your 700 SX, sell the darned thing to me!
Tell you what, I'll trade you my '01 Polaris EDGE X for your '97 700 SX plus $1000. Sounds like one heck of a deal to me. I'll even take you trail riding up in the Minocqua area this winter. I'll show you what a superior piece of engineering that SX really is, not that you will be able to stay close enough to me to see it though. Dont worry, I'll wait for you at stop signs, road crossings and forks in the trail. I'll even tow that Poo home for you when it breaks!

dont forget yamaha was first to come out w/ oil injection of the big fourHebi said:Actually, the Monoshock isnt the only new thing in the past 10 years.Who started the trend that is popular now of really bright, multi-bulb headlights? Yamaha. Who was the first to use electronically controlled variable exhaust? Yamaha. Who was the first to use forced induction? Yamaha. Who was the first one to use analong/digital gauges? Yamaha. Who made the fastest production 700 ever made? Yamaha. Who was the first to come out with high-performance 4-strokes? Yamaha. Who was the first to come out with electronic detonation controls? Yamaha. Check you facts next time, bud!

hey 97piped700sx. shouldnt you be changing your user name? if you love revs so much? also...i thought this was a yamaha site where we can get along and talk about OUR yamaha's. IMO you can take your rev and stick it.

amen
he stated his opinion, alittle contructive criticism, and 35 posts later, people are still jumping on him.
all you guys that are asking him if he's ridden a 4-stroke, I have a question for you. have YOU ridden a rev? like it or not the rev is an incredible platform for the job it does, comparing an RX-1 to a rev is like comparing an FZ1 to a YZ250 not an appriopriate comparison at all.
that said your blind faith is funny to watch.
