iddler wheel size

youll get a bit more mph out of it for sure, really to balance out the whole skid and keep it level , you need all (6) 5.350 idlers and the rear 7.5 inch idlers. the reason you have to grind the alum axle spacers is they switched to the new thinner wheel bearings in 2000. It takes about a .125" off of them to get the 7.5's to go right on. You will end hyfax wear and youll really notice how the sled will coast when you let off the gas. Easy gain

I was just bugging modsrx about lop sided. But the 7.5 wheels would be needed for sure as mrviper said. And what he said about hyfax wear..is true.Have the hyfax on my 600 going into third season and they still look new and straight throughout .And on the SRX they are nice also. But I do suggest up front the marginal snow wheel kit.

Are you's saying you have to change your rear wheels to 7.5 when you go to 5.35 on the other 6 wheels?

I was running my SRX few years ago with stock rear wheels and just replaced the 6 wheels to 5.35 I did not see anything out of the ordinary or lop sided but maybe I missed something. The sled wanted to roll forever when I let off the gas. everybody elses hyfax were smoked after running icy trails and mine were still new.

they have a set of them at royal distributing but its 6205 and yamaha run 6204 what is the difference in bearing

6205 is a 25mm id bearing, the yamaha use a 20mm id bearing, wont fit, those wheels are not the yamaha ones for a 78-79 srx440.

I just got a hi-perf engineering book today, they have them in there part number 581-697, $26.95 each, black plastic with the correct 20mm id bearing.

Check with Rich here on this site, he can get them for you ;)!

I heard it does. I always send parts to you guys USPS.

You guys get raped through UPS FED EX on customs upon delivery

no, the 6204 bearing is 20mm i.d. x 47mm o.d., 6205 bearing is 25mm i.d. x 52mm o.d.

you need replacement wheels for a 78-79 srx440 these will fit the axle(20mm) in any yamaha.

I could order them for you and then ship them via U.S. mail if its that big of a problem for you to get some.

6204 bearing is the correct one mrviper as you said. That is the ones I use with the 7.5 Aluminum wheels from the old SRX's. I get the wheels from Royal Distributing .

i would like to understand so i dont screw this up... i would like to do this mod as well so the outer rear wheels to 7.5 aluminum and then the 5.35 for the rest of the wheels?

what about the inner rear wheels?

thanks guys i appreciate it

mattyg1405, you need to replace all (3 or 4 depending on model)the rear idlers with the 7.5's

and you need to replace all the small bottom skid wheels with the 5.350 (6)
