I cleaned the carbs on the sled real good, a while back it was bogging and misfiring a lot and it ended up being a plug pilot jet. This time I cleaned the carbs just before breaking it out for the winter and when I started it up it was idling at like 3500 rpm so I turned the idle screw down till it idled about 1609 rpm and took it for a spin and all it wanted to do was bog and backfire, so I kept playing with the adjustment and the only time it ran good was when it idled around 2600 - 2800 rpm, is that not really high? And any advice out there on what I should do? I also drained the coolant and filled it back up bleeding the system like the manual says and about 20 minutes into riding around the water temp light comes on so I shut the sled off and felt the running board cooler and they were warn but not hot at all so I let the sled cool down and opened the filler neck and needed to add more coolant so does anyone have a good way to bleed the system? And if the filler neck was empty why wouldn't it suck coolant from the coolant tank?

raise back end, remove seat and take out bleed screw.Run it till you start see coolant coming out in a steady stream and you feel the exchangers get hot.Sometimes it takes a while, but when the air is out.them exchangers really heat up quick.

oh yeah..check your throttle cable is not tight. If you adjust your idle screw for lower rpm,and it doesn't go down..the cable adj may be to tight and keeps rpm's up..check if you have that slack in the line.
I will give the bleeding suggestion a try, and the throttle cable does have a little slack.

how old is the gas? where are your air screws set? also check the boots for leaks? What does your plugs look like?
Just put fresh premium in it, the air screws were 1.75 turns out and I put them back to the stock settings of 1.5, the plugs look to be some what black, I'm thinking it might be my stator or something electrical thats screwed because I can ride and the things
Running awesome then all of a sudden it starts to bog and hesitate and has a hard time getting over 50km/h unless I put it to the bars. When it starts hesitating and acting goofy it idles about 1500 rpm and I can shut it off start it back up and it idles around 2400 rpm and runs great, so it's definitely got me stumped, sometimes when it acts goofy if I just keep riding it will all if a sudden pick up and start running great again, I had this problem last year but wasn't able to solve it since we didn't get much snow and I did take my coils into the dealership where they tested them and said they were all no good, but I didn't buy new ones because I didnt think it was possible for a sled to run if the coils were all shot?

Had somewhat similar problems on my 97 sx. Ended up being bad plug caps and a stator. I hate intermitent electrical problems

Ya I had bad rub throughs underneath the engine and fixed them up with soder and heat shrink and it didn't solve anything that's why I'm thinking it might be the stator, I have new plug caps on all the coils.

another problem it may be is a gasket is junk somewhere in the engine and it is sucking in air i had the same prob on my 01 sxr 500 but it was a gasket
