octane rating of sea foam???

had some gas in my SRX that was 2 years old... wasnt much in there but got rid of most of it. dumped a half can of sea foam down the tank with fill up of fresh 93... idles fine when warm.


gonna clean the carbs tomorrow and reset the fuel screws. the screws are out 2 turns should bring them back to about 1.5 sled a little boggy off idle

Have not really done anything but put my clutch kit in and take it off the trailer in just in my friends yard. not trying to ride it just yet.


On a 2nd note, the battery in my nytro was frozen and would not crank the sled was able to thaw it out over the furnace and charge it back to life.. it starts the sled just fine now

seafoam absolutely contains alcohol, and shouldn't be used in a two stroke engine. Especially dumping in a half can! Todays fuel has more than enough alcohol in it, and there is certainly no need to add more. Clean the carbs properly
 
LIKE F---!!!!! Alcohol is alcohol no matter what letters it has. It ALL does the SAME thing to an engine! Read, and comprehend your own link, or you will be starting another thread asking why your bottom end let go.
 
most engines can tolerate fuel with up to 10% ethanol. So let's say the fuel you get contains 10% alcohol, now the fuel company adds methyl hydrate to the fuel for their winter blend which is only there to protect their pumps...now you are over 10%. Now, go and do what a lot of people do to their sleds...add gas line anti-freeze... then go and dump some additional cure all snake oil to your fuel which probably contains even more alcohol. Keep doing that and you won't be enjoying your sled.

have to agree with this... first if your fuel contain 10% ethanol, you don't need to add gas line antifreeze... as for Seafoam, that company is making a fortune on unsuspecting customers... It's a gimmick and one should be careful relying on it to protect their engines from disasters..

clean carbs regularily, don't be "UNWITTINGLY" shaving heads, peeling gaskets, changing port timing by fxxxing with base gaskets, screwing with airboxes, changing ignition timing and running ragged azz jetting, and your sled will run just fine with E10 fuel... And, will have way fewer headaches... We all would be reading a lot less stories of "burn downs" on these forums too... just my 2 cents... tj...
 
Wow, touched a nerve, I had to double check and make sure we are still on the Totallyamaha board and not the Corvette board. This can go on and on but really do what makes you feel good. I have not seen one engine fail because of using ethonal. I am sure some do but I have not seen any. Now I do you marine fuel as much as possible in our sleds, but I am forced to use pump fuel while on the trail. We use Sta bil marine formula in all of our gas. No problems since. We do also use Sea Foam as a cleaner, sometime 100% during an injector clean. I buy in gallon form for this. I hope everyone has a great day and smooth riding Al
 
carbs are spotless now after a good cleaning.

I have a plug that is fouled but comes alive just above idle when you lightly touch the throttle that was more my problem then anyhthing .. anybody ever have that problem?
 
other then trying new plugs tomorrow,,, the sled is stupid fast


kind of disappointed because i thought my Nytro would run with my SRX and my Nytro is pretty quick

although,,,, i should stud the Nytro and it probably will run with the SRX up to 80

still a little bit of old varnish mixed in with the fresh gas


im am confident by the 2nd tank all will be perfect

the color of the gas that came out the float bowls had a brownish color
 
not really sure what it is... sled is just gurgles off idle till about 3000 rpm

It doesnt have the snap it should when you wack the throttle. almost seems like a cylinder quits at idle

Carbs are cleaned and set to where its suppose to be..

Other then that, the sled performs extremely well
 
put 75 miles on today. sled hauls some butt


im getting 42.5 pilots tomorrow like the other years have and trying that
 
I put a teaspoon of seafoam in my sleds tank at the start of every season, for me it works, it is noticable.
 
Gas gets pretty ugly after being in the carbs for 2 years.

Going to drain the float bowls when Im done for the year. I found several deposits of the big white bugers in the bowl from the ethanol in the gas
