Don't take offense but it sounds like everything was fine just worn drivers. You said the studfs where too long? What size where they? You can run way longer studs in the srx the a 1"
Yes
The drivers were just so worn that track would be on top by the fourth tooth
So there is no way possible that the previous owner drove it that way
The studs were around 1.175 or longer
I put 1" in now, but I could have went longer
oh well

Question
The bearings in the chain case
Does the open side of the bearing not face to the inside?

no it does not. reason is to keep shavings out of bearing.
to the inside of the chaincase? yes it should.KEVIN said:Question

Oil makes its way between the shaft and bearing thats why there is 2 seals there behind.

The driveshaft bearing located in the chaincase is installed so that the seal is TOWARDS the oil. This keeps the fine metal particles out of the bearing and enough oil weeps past the seal to keep it lubed. The lip located in the chaincase about an inch behind the bearing (looking from the chaincase side) keeps the crap out of the other side of the bearing.
Thanks for all the answers
So why not put a bearing in that is sealed on both sides
