my SX600R clutching still a mystery to me..lol
Well since I rebuilt the motor, the 600 seems to have more power and it is showing up with higher rpms.Stock weights have from factory 2.4 in and 3.6 out. This creats over rev.I tried the other day 3.6 in and 4.5 out with red spring at 80.I am geared down 1 tooth upper with 1.25 track.Still revs up to 8800-8900 when I pin it ,settles down to 8500 and pu to about 8700 wot.So 1 gram extra on tip would drop it 100 rpm and if I go to red at 70 .should drop me another 200...but will this do it.Probably will still over rev out of the hole.Need the rpm's to settle down to 8200 and pu to 8400-8500 rpm. Will adding more to inner hole help here.I was going to add a .9g washer to the 4.5 rivet now and get it to a 5.4 g total outer...what do you think will happen now???Can I go to green spring at 60 wrap also...thanks

anyone out there that can give some hint of what to change..inner or outer or both rivets.

I read a lot of older thread on this subject.Seems I have the combination of rivets opposite way.Instead of 3.6g in inner..I should have 4.5 g.And instead of 4.5 outer I should have 3.6.But that should work good on a stock 600 to cure over reving.I am geared down 1 tooth upper and motor is rebuilt..so probably will rev higher yet..so I will go with 4.5 inner and 4.5 outer and see what happens. Can always drill a hole in the outer if the rpm's are lugged down..Getting more rivets today..so will set it up that way...thanks to the old threads out there....

from what i understand to bring wot rpm down you need to add weight to the tip, and engagement spring will also effect wot. (weight against spring)

remember,,stock weights for the 600 only had 2.4g tip and 3.6g inner.Turk mentioned to get rpms down that you go to 4.5 inner and 3.6 outer..but I would think I would need more on tip because of gearing and fresh motor...I will be leaving soon to go pu my parts at the post office..my rivets are in the box.....

all i can say is my sled totally stock was pulling way over on wot should have been 8000 but was 9000+, i havent checked to see of tach is off, but with all my messing with it (trial and error) its down to around 8300+- and im maxed on rivit weight.

on mine, i was trying to work on both ends engagement and wot. id get wot close then try to bring up engagement and every time it would change my wot. so i got wot as close as i can and am living with engagement, think the only way to fix my engagement is with a weight profile change. i know i worked on my bros sled to bring up his engagement by machining pockets on his weights and it worked but it was like driving a dragster! kind of hard to drive up to a gas pump doing wheelies everytime you hit the throttle. lol

cool..would like to see that...lol
this is what i have ....3200 miles on motor new 1.25 ripsaw stock drives stock gearing 20/39 head gasket mod notched reeds slp can. now for my clutch set up all stock but with 4.5 at top closest to the bolt and 3.6 in the bottom hole i pull 8600 then goes to 8500 within 100ft and stays there.
last night the snow was crunchy and i hit 95mph on the dream o meter

I guess you don't have the heelclickers anymore? I have a general idea for a set up for that sled.

don't think I'll ever get 95 out of the 600.the old SRX just barely hits 100.If I can hit 95 with my 600..I'll put triples pipes on it and sell the SRX...lighter sled also..
just got back from riding we just had 3" of powder on top of what we had and now i can only hit 80 to 85ish snow conditions have alot of effect on speed but still pulling at 8500 rpms

well with everything up to snuff.the SXR600 only does about 140 k/h and that is it.Clutching on target 8500-8600.I even tried green spring at 60 wrap to get the belt to squeeze more in secondary..got about 8700 wot rpm's and about 138 k/h.I marked the primary with black marker to see how belt climbs.Put in a brand new belt, broke it in and tried a few long runs.Got home and see the black marks on primary about 1 inch from top..so that didn't work..green spring to stiff and won't allow belt to drop down in secondary and climb in primary..So I put the red at 80 back in and I give up.it is staying like this for now.Got new 8dg's with 3.6g both holes and stock spring also.I used to get 155 at least on a long run,now she seems slower.I even geared it back up to stock with the 20 tooth upper instead of 19 tooth.
I think I have lost some HP because of the single layer gasket was blowing and had to go back to stock 3 layer gasket..but didn't have any here so used ones from a 700 redhead. They don't match up to the inside of cylinders.so probably losing more power here because of bigger area for combustion.
Still the compression cold is just shy of 130 across. With a single layer and right size gasket I was getting nearly 150 psi..so down about 20 psi..but at least she is running for now and season will be over soon.

When I had my SX600R I ran Stock 20/39 gearing, single layer gasket, notched reeds, 51/43 helix and EMPTY 8-CA weights and it pulled a nice 8400rpm. This combo with the stock Yoko track pulled 107 on the dreamo, 101 on Radar! Swapped to a 1 1/4 ripsaw and 19/39 gearing and lost over 10mph but gained a ton of NEEDED traction. She pulled 95 on the dreamo, and 90 on radar with that combo. Whats sad is my Phazer MTX with with a simple gear change hits 82mph on radar and would out accelerate my SX600R up to 70mph, and that is turning a 144x2 track.

the 600's just don't have enough horses and the weight factor make it pretty impossible to get to 100 mph. If I am only getting around 140k/h on speedo which is like 84 mph speedo..that ain't good since my 78 Exciter 440 would do 93 mph on speedo and had less HP and weight.Wish I had that 78 again..was a fun sled and quick for me.
I am thinking since a lot of the lugs are breaking off the ripsaw 1.25 track after 4 seasons that I should just take a sharp utility knife and trim everything down to an inch high. But really this sled is not for racing or anything..just like it because it is bullet proof and great for the hill climbing, ditch banging and drift busting I do.
