Al's got it... it's the speculators on Wall Street more than anything, but it's also bad Govt policy was well. Our own monetary policy to deal with bad economy by going further way into debt, is only going to force us to monetize it, in other words print more funny money. When you print funny money you get run away inflation. It's what happens when you elect an inexperienced moron...

My wife had me watch a serise where two guys went and lived in the bush with different native tribes. With one tribe they brought the King (or their leader) back here to the US of A and they toured Wall Street and to the stock market and the statment that the "king" made was awesome in my book.... He stated that it was like watching grown men play(like little boys) games and gamble with other peoples money.

For a moment I watched the tv and said quietly "he got a point".

it really isn't rocket science to get really great gas mileage... Think of a compound (here's a hint.... Hydrogen ) that is widely available and almost FREE ???? ( here's the hint again.. HYDROGEN)... Water injection has been around for FOURTY YEARS and it NEVER TOOK OFF... Ask the guys who have water injection on their vehicles... it FREEZES in the wintertime.... what good is that ????

And your point is??? Do you agree with the Wall Street speculators who drive up prices for no apparent reason? The demand for oil is lower than in the past, the current supply is higher than in the past, but the cost is higher, what gives???
I ran some numbers for our average running of the sleds. 2,000 miles per sled, at 13mpg is 154 gallons of fuel @ $4.50 gl we will be using nearly $700 of fuel per sled. That is $2,800 of gas just to drive around on the snow. If prices go up on gas chances are we wont go as often. This limits our trips which also limit the hotel stays, meals, ect. We try to spend as much at local mom and pop motels, restaurants. Lets all try to keep the price of Oil low. Al
 
If gas prices stay high and people don't want to pay to much for gas,then I have a question for ya's.How come Car manufacturers are building vehicles with such high HP ratings..I don't get it.Then this person who drives a 300 plus HP car is tired of paying so much for gas..well excuse me..but could you maybe get rid of that car and drive one with half the HP...can't understand this...

yeah I spent around $1500 for gas on 2 sleds not counting the cost of oil either.I spent more on gas for sleds then my truck last year....If gas spikes I will also scale back how and when I ride also.....

North American demand may be slightly lower but worldwide demand isn't.

...and I've yet to see OWS protesters complain about fuel prices.

Free healthcare, college, wages, elimination of ALL debt and skittles and unicorns - but not fuel prices.

Seems to me the OWS protesters' beef is with school admins that sold them a $100k BA in Latino lesbian/gay cultural studies. May be marketable in mom's basement, but...

Don't forget many private and public pensions are heavily invested in oil.

We're part of a global economy whether we like it or not.

"I don't get it. Why would a guy that's driving a 10 year old vehicle complain about poor fuel economy".

New technology allows for both increased power and better fuel economy.

lighter weight alloys and varible cam timing just to name two.

eliminating parasitic drags (electronic power steering, electric cooling fans)

300 hp V6 that gets 30 mpg was unheard of not all that long ago.
