The phone number for Midwest Crankshaft is 920-434-3630. Talk to Jeff, he is a good person to work with. He has treated me fairly and provided great service.

My brother-in-law picked up an srx last year from a guy in NB. Sled came from across the border. He had a lot of issues with his. Not sure if it was the same guy or not. Also, so you are aware, there is a guy at ON sports in Shediac NB that repairs cranks. If you want I can get his number.

hey matty forget about that asswipe that sold u that sled. consider it a valuable lesson. know this, 99% of people who buy used stuff have had something similar happen. most of the people on this website would not do that shit i do not think. plenty of douchebags that would though. beware my friend and move on. i think Rx1jim has the best plan for you. thanx for posting that #. good luck

In the dude's defence that sold the sled, he never really ran it. He bought it from Maine and it sat in his yard until it sold. so if there is a douchebag in the deal somewhere its the guy from Maine who sold it to the guy in question. Now maybe they're both just douchebags, thats an option as well. I do know that he was advertising is as mint and completely serviced and ready to go, not ready to blow.

yup somebody was a douchebag. but then u have someone like that jeff guy to help counterbalance the situation. such be life. just got to be extremely careful buying used stuff. still no gaurantee that u will not get ripped though. sadly when it comes to money u just cant trust many people.

i know i know i know! just sucks i was expectin to have a nice srx for the winter, and instead ive run into problem after problem. but your right blue, buyer beware! its just weird that he is ignoring my calls and email, was gonna see if he had a cylinder and a head for sale lol
nobody can predict when a motor will pop. i just find it weird that with 4600 miles, why is every single bearing in the crank shot? and i know the guy buys and parts out srx's, just makes me wonder if my sled was slapped together with a bunch of parts he had laying around

well simple things like not fogging the motor for years to using cheap oil..who knows. It takes all kinds I guess.I personally wouldn't sell any motor driven vehicle if the motor was bad.But the guys I bought the 2 outboard Mercs from didn't care. The 1st one looked really clean inside and out but the stator was gone on it.That would be around $400 to replace and a coil also.So bought 2nd used motor..saw it running..but got it home.it only ran on 1 cylinder.. and the thing was completely dirty with oil everywhere under the cover. The whole housing was lose as someone removed key bolts from it... but at least the stator and 1 coil was good on it to transfer to the other motor and I have 1 working outboard and some spare parts.
I just sold my 1976 Pantera500 a few weeks back..motor on it was a complete re built one.Guy looked the chassis and body over good..started the motor to hear it and took the sled.Compression I told him was 155 PSI both cylinders.
Man oh man it has started to snow real heavy out now and high winds...got to go look out the window..maybe I will be riding soon....

the main River is not supposed to be that safe, open water in places..it has just been to mild and going above 0 next Tues again..there is no hope..I am itching to ride the SRX and can't.I am going a little bunkers here now ..
Just to get to the River would be pretty bad and impossible right now to..We need snow with winds creating drifting to make drifts along the banks of the River in order to ride down to it.I am sure I would bury the needle no problem on the ice..man the waiting game is terrible.

yeah my kids is a 121 with mx bars and a riser and polaris seat. all I have to do is stand at the back of the running boards (which is behind the rear wheels on a 121) and can lift the skiis anytime I want. lol gotta love the waaaaauuup of the 250
Can anyone tell me why the bearings all added up cost over $1200? WTF was yamaha thinking? Sure maybe it lasts 50% longer than the $26 bearings they used in the 97-earlier, but with how half the people don't fog their machines, bottom ends will have to be rebuilt regardless. Doesn't make much sense that the crank is $1200 also. Which is the price I paid for my 99, as well. Prices of the bearings seem out of touch.

Yeah, crazy prices on the bearings. I replaced 2 bearings on the PTO side of my 98 SRX. Pretty sure they were $190.00 each cdn.

new cranks are like $1300 from yamaha, most always if you can locate a good used one youll save a whole lotta money. Used ones go for $300-500 depending on how nice and such.
really I wouldnt bother with replacing bearings, just replace the crank, either new or used and be done with it and back on the trail. The amount youll spend in parts, shipping, labor for someone to change them all will be more then just replacing it.
the bearings may have been bad if it sat outside and then started just t hear it run and never had heat in the engine to keep the condensation from rusting the bearings. sleds stored in enclosed trailers without good venting can have this same thing happen to them, the condensation will form and the water droplets like to rust the crank bearings.

well the crank and the bearings look like brand new, and have no signs of any rust, but are sloppy. both outside ones ( that slide off either side of crank ) seem tight on the shaft but when taken off, i can shake them and theyre really noisy? one other thing i noticed tonight is that the crank has been welded... makes me wonder even more about this thing...obviously im not the first one to be this deep into the srx
