Sled Idea's for wife

Well I was able to ride my new to me 02 Viper project around the yard enough to know it's way too much sled for my wife!! So it's back to the drawing board for my next project. I was gonna build her a Viper also, but I think she'll be too intimidated by how hard the Viper hits, mine really rips!! So, I'm looking for idea's on other Yamaha Pro Action models that would be a little tamer for her. I want to keep with the tripple cyl as I like the sound and smoothness of the tripple. Also, I will be adding elect start and reverse as I'm the guy who'll be doing all the loading and unloading of the sleds and I need this for health reasons. I know the Venom's are a spitting image of the Viper which is good, but they are harder to find. So, I guess I'm asking about how the 600 tripples compare to the Viper and also how the other 700's compare too( like the sx, sxr, vmax deluxe, etc..) Any idea's would be appreciated. Thanks Gil
 
i have a 2000 sx500r and i am 14. it rips around but no any were near a 700! it is a twin cylinder. i have had it up to 90mph on a flat lake! i love it. it will lift the skis i tiny bit on a trail take off but it is a very comfortable sled. i am sure he can handle that! and i suggest hardening the suspension if you play around you will feel it bottom out! i have yet to stiffin it though. here is a pic of mine.

Have you thaught about a Mountain max,they come with (redhead) e start and reversre. I am thinkin a venture might fit the bill as well, I think the 2 ups all came with (viper PV motor) e start and reverse. If your not a fan of the 2 up platform throw a single seat on it.
 
The red head triple power comes on very smooth and is very easy to control in stock form. I think either a 600 or even 700 (the 700 gets slightly better mileage) would be a great choice.
 
My better half rides a viper and manages it well. If she says at any point it scares her I am planning to convert it over to a Venom. Heck, I have considered converting them both if I have excessive trouble with the Viper motors. My vote is a Venom though if you dont want the wife to have a Viper. Be patient. There are a few out there, many with Estart and reverse.
 
All good ideas guys! Thanks for the imput. I know I can put e start and reverse on any pro action so I'm not too worried about that. I never thought of buying a 2-up and just putting a single seat on it. Great idea. One question though of these what models came with rebuildable/revalveable shocks. I would like keep in consideration something that pioneer can rebuild/revalve if need be. Thanks again Gil
 
she will be fine on that viper, only go as fast as you push the fun flipper,
my wife rides a 02 ported srx with 8bu-10 set-up that rips, ;)!
 
I know she could probably handle it, but with her I don't want her to get intimidated, because then she won't want to ride if she isn't having fun. That's why I want something that has some power but just comes on a little softer. While thinking about the 2 up idea, what single seats fit like a 2000 venture for instance?? And wouldn't I have to soften up the springs some with just her 130lbs on it??

any of the read head tripples will probably suit her. just set the suspension for her and get the clutching right. the twins are fine but they are harder on gas than the tripples, whitch when you are running with tripples can suck as it always seems that it needs gas.
 
A Comfortable riding nice seat and hand/thumb warmers that she can steer without feeling she been working out real hard. Standard high windshield as well.

A wife freezing out there will take a strip off you so fast and head for home pissed. Speed doesn't even come into it and breaking 100mph isn't having fun but scaring the the pants off her if she looses control. You want to ride with her or rather her ride with you. Then you need to taylor to her expectation. Touring models generally fit the bill in my opinion.
 
Whatever ya get her, make sure there is a huge windscreen, great hand/thumb warmers, E-start & reverse. Remember.....if she's unhappy, you are soon to be the same. And if she is happy, she'll want to go out riding more. Here is my vote if you can find one. A Phazer Mountain Lite. The 136 will help w/ bumps and comfort also. If she has longer legs and you can swing it, a BOSS seat will cut down(if not eliminate) nagging also.

Something else to consider...my wife hates the throttle pull of a triple. Pulling open three carbs gives her "throttle pump" in her thumb very early in the ride. She loves getting on my Viper for short periods of time and feeling the acceleration, but much prefers the throttle pull of a twin.

I had an Inviter that was O-SO-COMFORTABLE, and super easy on the thumb as they are a 1 lunger w/ 1 carb. It has e-start but no reverse. It would still get up to @ 55mph w/ my 295# on it.
 
i would get her a 600 or 700 triple v max deluxe, my last v max hit 19,000 miles and i never had to touch the motor, great sled.
 
We have several Pro action sleds. The 700 SXR's get the most riding. I would suggest buying 2000 or 2001 700 SXR and install Turks clutching recomendations. As well as a BOSS seat. The seat is soooo nice compared to the stock configuration. You can buy the sled, clutch kit and seat all for under $2,500.00 My wife rides just as much as I do or my Son. 150 to 200 miles a day is just fine with her. She rides the 600 dlx most of the time, but she also likes riding the 700 SXR in deeper snow. The red head 700's are easy to maintain, and are easy on the fuel. Lots of great ideas guys, thank you!! I guess when I get the money together to start shopping, (probably spring for better prices) I'll just let her pic what appeals to her. I'd lean toward a venom if I can find one as I know she really likes my Viper's style and ergos, but I see there are several others (redheads) that would fit the bill. That's what I like most about the Yamaha's, there are so many pro action models that you can swicth and swap parts to make them taylored to your needs very easily.When I start seriously shopping, I'll post so maybe you guys can keep your eyes open for me.
