I recently purchased my first sled. Its a 97 v max 700 triple. Its a great sled and its in great condition. I took it out for the first time ysterday and it seems to dart a lot. When i stand up while going a decent speed it doesn't dart at all. I assume that this is due to the wind resistance on my body putting more weight on the rear and taking weight off of the skis.
My front skis are SLP ultra lites with 5 inch carbides in good condition. Toe is set to 1/4" out. Front shocks have the nuts under the spring adjusted about 3/4 of the way up. The nuts under the spring on the front shock on the rear skid are about 1/2 way up.
Do I need to adjust something with the shocks? Everything is stock besides the SLP skis. Do I need to let the limit strap down? If so, how do you get to the strap to adjust it? I looked under the sled and it Looks like a tight fit.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and I rode my brothers 98 srx right after on the same trail and it did not dart at all

shim the back of the ski rubber with 1/4"shim.Place shim under the rubber on the back side of it.This helps solve the darting issue...

and it actually does work..If a lot of newer guys on here go to the Tech section and spend some time reading everything in there.you will be surprised how much you will learn and these sleds.Lots of informative stuff in there. And you can print out the parts you wants to.I keep a binder full of info on my sleds, everything from clutching to suspensions.I have all torque specs, pics of every inch of the sleds along with part numbers. So when I need to know something quick on my sled..I flip to the right section and I have it in front of me instantly.Better then going thru here to look something up because you have it already printed out and with pics also.
Thanks for the reply. I have been reading and searching all day. I even spent some time in the tech section. I didn't see that article. I will take my skis apart tonite and give it a shot. Thanks.

Howdy new guy! Don't mind Doug (Bluemonster1) he's just grumpy cause he has no snow... LOL!! That bumper shim is very good fix. You might also need to let your limiter straps out a little bit, to let some weight off the skis. BUt do the bumper shim fix first.
