I mentioned this last year when I was having the problem. Engagement RPM is 3,800. WOT is 8,300 for couple of seconds and then drops to 7,000 approx. Sled will ride at 7,000 no problem (no servo warning lights), but if i hit it, will go instantly to 8,300 and then drop after 2 - 3 seconds. Went thru carbs and cleaned internal filter hats, checked float levels, replaced all 3 fuel baffles, went thru both clutches, replaced both springs, primary fixed sheave bushing, cleaned everything up, replaced belt and it is still doing it. Here are pics of plugs and primary. Notice the darker plug, that is PTO which has 150 Main, #2 and #3 and 148.8 (2001 jetting). Also notice the belt marks (just cleaned) on the primary.
Where do I go from here? Fuel releated (pump, gas filter)? Is the servo motor shutting off at WOT? PV's have all been cleaned and adjusted to spec. Servo open under 900 RPM for test.

It makes you wonder if its the cdi i know if the servo moter starts to fail you wont get the light but you will have a hell of a bog because the valves will start to choke the ports off.

I had a similar post and someone remarked they had an issue with a reed pedal that was bad. Have you checked your reeds?
I checked the reeds by only looking down the manifold boots and noticed the pedals looked good
So is the general consensus that the reed pedals are bad?
What else could it be? It sounds like when it shifts out, it sounds like a severe load is on the engine, like when you hit the gas and brakes at the same time. Might also sound like lack of fuel at WOT.
Could the servo motor shut down at WOT only? I can ride all day at 7,500 RPMS (PV's are open at this point)?

The same thing happened to me, but I know it was a shortage of fuel, not a regular problem just a one time deal. It did the same thing though, went to my shift out RPM's and then dropped to 7k something.

What is the secondary set at maybie set the spring tighter and the slipping will go away.

No it was just a matter of me running very low on gas. I just needed to fill up the tank. But this happens to you when you have plenty of gas and it's a regular problem, so I have no idea. Doesn't sound like a clutching problem. I think what you mentioned some sort of fuel shortage at WOT.

just looking at the pics of your primary clutch. It looks to me that the belt is slipping at the top of the sheeve. neither one of my srx,s leave black marks for the belt on the sheeves. may be something to look at.

Yeah I don't have black marks that high up on the sheave either.
383 stroker is right. your slipping the primary clutch at higher speeds. good chance the primary is shifting out too early according to the marks. mabey your not getting a high enough clamp load from the weights to hold your shift curve?... first step if you havent already done it is to clean that black crap off of the primary as this could and will hinder you. you want nice clean aluminum for the belt to grab on.

also shot bearings could cause this. make sure your secondary spins the driveshaft without any disruptions.

It could be shifting out to early as it only holds 8,300 for a couple of seconds and then the shift out occurs which might be early. All weights, rollers, spring are stock and to spec. Sheaves have been cleaned multiple times with soap and water. Even applied 400 grit to them and then soad and water to get all the belt and grime off. Still falls flat on its face after a couple of seconds. Any clutch experts out there with a suggestion on what is going on with all the belt marks?
the main bearing in the primary where the movable part of the clutch slides on may be wore and sticking... have ya checked that. its just a piece of steel with a special coating.. once that coating wears off and exposes the steel. bad things can happen

I just repelaced parts #2 and #10. The spider shafts looked okay but I applied 400 grit onto both shafts of the spider. The bushing for the spider cap was not replaced as it looked okay (no copper showing yet).
Did I miss something to replace?
