I think I remember going thru this problem and trying to resolve it with you last year. I looked at your pics of the clutch and it sure looks like you have a primary clutch problem. It must be hanging up and not fully shifting, slipping the belt leaving the black marks, this will for sure lower rpm.
I would have the clutch torn apart and either the main moveable sheave bushing is faulty or the pucks on the ends of the spider are binding up in the moveable sheave, something is not letting it apply the right pressure to clamp the belt, problem not elsewhere in sled, its the primary clutch, the belt black marks tell it all.

Thanks Mrviper700. I think you are correct. Will tear down clutch again and begin to replace parts.
My theory is the spider shaft is ever so slightly bent. When I took it apart last summer, I noticed wear on the one side of the shaft and rust on the other (no contact with bushing). The shaft I am referring to is the shaft that the moveable sheave slides up and down on. Probably from a belt blowing up a high speed as I found belt piece under the motor. I do not think it is true and is causing all kids of problem with binding, etc. This is probably with mr.viper700 is referring to. Guess I am in the market for a new spider shaft. Any opinions on this theory?
