Allright so my Vmax has always been a little heavy on the smoke at idle, now I know Yamaha's tend to run a bit on the rich side with their oil but it's bad enough that it's causing plugs to foul when idling and when running at slow engine speeds/steady throttle. I tried to follow the manual for the oil cable adjustment. Manual states to pull back rubber sheathing and adjust cable gap to 27-29mm, now this is the part that has me baffled. Unless my sled has the wrong oil control cable installed in it there's absolutely no way to get that kind of adjustment out of it. I get to about 25mm before i run out of threads on the adjuster barrel. The cable as it sits has approx 1mm of gap between the locknut on the adjuster and the cable nut itself. I am baffled and a little confused. I looked through some of the threads that were already posted on this and it seems as though no one has had this issue. Of course the older Vmax's don't have the alignment marks the newer sleds do, that would just make things way too damn easy!
Oh and if any of you know the part number for the NGK replacement spark plug caps feel free to post it. Yamaha nearly got me until they told me the factory replacement caps were $27/ea.
