Ur taking a big chance welding that back on I would have someone tig weld it.I think best way to fix is put a piece of smaller diameter pipe down threw top and inside the stem bevel the edges leave a 1/4 inch gap so you can get good penitration to all three pieces that's something you don't want breaking off at 100 mph just my opinion I'm a welder by trade tig would make the strongest weld.

already looked at it..... wasnt very helpfull. dont know whats going on

He put a pipe down the center of it, and welded it at the bottom through some predrilled holes and then did the same at the top as well as welding the top plate back to it.

exactly, thought it was described pretty plainly if you read it.

I added gussets on the bottom of the plate on mine in addition to the reinforced post.

I think the OP would have understood what he did better if he saw a picture of the pipe inserted into the tube before welding the top plate back on. Either way that's a hell of a way to fix it and make it damn near indestructible.

yeah good luck there..better tie a couple of cables to your ski's.You can steer that way..don't waste any time as the snow will be gone soon again,,lol

I like the pipe wrench deal..do it..fast,,hurry,,snow is melting as we type.I am going out for a ride tomorrow.Took off my expensive shaper bars from the ski's and put on the stock runners that came with them. Then I won't feel so bad about losing some carbides when I try to get to the River..

I used to snapem off on my older yamis bye. What i found is never turn the bars when the sled is sitting,,,,git off and turn the skis with yer paw or do it under power and you will never snap a steering post top again.
