Hey guys well after looking at my track an finding that alot rubber nubs that are right outside of the hyfax are missing and or shredded, not good! So I've been searching to see what people like for an srx track. I dont want to change drivers and want to run studs so gonna go with a 1"inch track. My buddy has a 1inch hacksaw on his 09 f8 an doesnt like it. Also I've heard that camoplast cobra tracks are good do they still make these in a 1" track? I would appreciate any and all suggestions/opinions?

I put a 1" hacksaw with 144 studs on my srx last year and to be honest I liked my old beat up 1" predator track I had previously better. The hacksaw worked great in hardpack, but the predator did just as well and it could also handle the soft stuff which the hacksaw cannot. The predator is now called the "carve"

srxman 72 thanks for the quick reply. I have looked at the carve and didnt know that it used to be predator. Im glad then i passed on a new hacksaw at haydays lol does anyone know how the energy track is?

If you are definately going to stud, I'd be lookin at the pre-drilled/molded tracks at Camo or Kimpex. Kimpex tracks that are pre-molded, don't have their cords cut by the drilling process that happens when you drill for studs on a non-premolded track. Rather, they(cords) are spread to make room for the hole during the curing process. Making the cord not only....not cut, but slightly bunched around each hole to make it very strong.
At as for the Camo Energy, I'd look for the traction control in that model. For a lower doller track, they hook up EXCELLENT and brake muuuuuch better than stock. An excellant track that often gets overlooked because of the cheaper price.
For durability, I'd go w/ a Kimpex Ultimate Traction w/ pre-molded holes. Very solidly built for the long haul.

For more gitty-up & go.....the Energy w/ traction control system. This, coupled w/ your choice of studs make it very VERY formitable. Lightweight also.
That is a tough choice between those two. It's a win win for you either way ya go. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.
Your riding conditions would more than likely dictate which of those two I would choose.

A couple of bucks ya Im def gonna be running studs I got 192 my stock track but after your suggestion and some searching think I might be going with the ultimate traxtion pre-drilled and keep only studs in the middle. For my riding conditions consists of trail riding around southeast WI, and a few yearly trips up to mercer/hurley area. Blue that track looks tough on your srx, did u notice much in terms of top end loss? since I do quite a bit of river running.

can't say anything on the speed loss, never really had a chance to open her up last winter with the bad winter we had..but so far so good,I think I put over 1000 miles on it and no lugs missing,no studs pulled out..so I am happy. With the Predator I had,I started to get my lugs tearing and such...,mind you it is how you ride and where. With marginal snow last year, had to be careful not to punch it out with dirt and rocks exposed everywhere.I long traveled the SRX this time around and geared down, not to concerned about top end speeds anymore.Just want a good hole shot and get to 100 quicker.

I have a 1" energy on my 700sx. I like the track it performs very well on the trails. I've had it on my sled for two years and I don't have any torn lugs. I have no studs and my friends 600 classic that has a lot of studs can only get about ten feet on me out the whole, then I go right on by. The braking ability is very good without studs. I also took it through some 2' powder in the up last winter and to my surprise I never got stuck. I just didn't gouge on it from a stop. If your going to stud it the offer a predrilled model. In my opinion I would buy another one its held up well and is cheap.

thanx guys for all the info. yea blue i just got some nice rear viper shocks an that along with a new track will hopefully make a big difference. Blue what did u re-gear to? Also just curious what did u do to the front suspension, did u jus flip the brackets?

I geared down 1 tooth upper, put in long traveled rear shocks and transfer rods, flipped brackets on the front also.Should be a whole lot of fun riding my SRX now..hopefully will attempt more deeper snow and see what happens.

Blue ya I hear u about the long travel, Im tired of sitting so low to the ground so im looking forward to trying out my shocks once they get revalved, and also get snow lol how many studs are u running on your kimpex, dont know if I wana run 192 this time around. Did u also notice quite a bit of difference in hookup with the new track?

144 down the middle only.Couldn't really tell with last years lousy snow..if I hit ice I really shot off.SRX's will still spin the track with studs no problem..but has to help some.Guys without studs on the icy River were left behind by my SRX for 1 to 2 km's,Passed two 800 doo's on a icy corner and it turned like on rails..them guys had no chance. When I stopped for a break, they came by around 10 minutes later..lol

Passin them 800 doos is kind of a given aint it blue lmao.Actually you could hang back on them and pick them up when the crank goes out or a piston seizes. ;)!
I just had to put that in there lol.

If you do more that your fair share of river riding, I'd put 60 degree nearest the rails. Well...................because there is more weight concentrated at these two areas.

Then put a sharper stud towards the center where there isn't a lot of weight to help the studs sink in. These sharper 45 degree stud will penetrate better and get some much needed bite for the 'ol SRX.

ain't it the truth.lol

I just got a srx today it has a brand new kimpex extreme traction track with new studs 144 down the middle. I really like the look of the track. I am going to put it on my black srx.

amatosrx too bad u were a fan of that track I wud take that off your hands lol i was jus planning on taking the studs out of my track I believe there extreme traction 1.075. man blue thats a heck of a deal u got on that track im jealous. So Im guessing it was pretty straight forward flipping the front brackets then re-aligning the front end? Anybody see a better deal on that kimex track fom dennis kirk didnt think that was a bad price and its pre-drilled.
