new to forum just wondering what you guys think of my sled and if there is anything i should do or change on it, bought the sled last year and pulled the factory skid out and put in an edge skid w/ clicker shock (love it - so much smoother w/ great weight transfer) 02 sled has a hauck 800 big bore kit and is ported, k&n pods, v-force 3's, hauck growler, predator 1.25 track - no studs, dont plan on running studs
sled is crazy crazy fast and wish i would have gotten one a long time ago
sled was set up for racing w/ barely any travel from previous owner, thinking i can get more out of it with maybe some clutching changes but dont know where to start.
heres the specs i have that came from hauck
primary:
8bn
red spring
helix 54-44
2 shims
58.5g weights
std. split collar
secondary:
j cam
set at 3-3
h silver spring
clutch engages at around 5,000 rpms and seems to shift real quick, dont remember where top rpm was id like to say 8350 tho, i would like to drop the engage down a little, i ride mostly trails with an ocassional 100+ mph runs and love woopen on f7's and i have even takin a z1 turbo numerous times (nieghbors sled) , havent really had anything come close to beaten me, previous sled was a xcsp 800 twin and what a diff. between the 2 its night and day.
i weigh 175lbs, sled hooks up real well in loose to heavy snow, obviously not on ice or low snow conditions but thats due to no studs.
just looking to see if i can gain anything else from it and maybe make it more trail friendly and not loose its BADASSNESS!!! which i have not had any complaints with it at all just know theres always room for improvements, any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated thanks mike

bout the only thing you could do to make it faster is add like a 75 shot of nitrous!

Nitrous would be pretty sweet but its not a drag sled, i mostly ride trails and want to keep it reliable and fairly efficient and not lose any of its go, just wondering what you guys think about that clutch setup, does it seem like all the parts go hand and hand, I've seen alot of posts on here with diff. Clutch setups but all seem quite a bit diff. Compared to mine, and i know its like comparing apples to oranges and no 2 sleds are the same and diff. Riding types and styles but just want to know if it fits the sled and my type of riding or if i can gain anything by changing something or if you guys think i should just leave the clutches alone

if you loose the growlers and go to stock can, should pu some extra HP for sure.Your wot rpm should be in at 8450-8500.Now I see you are pulling good weight in the primary, you can because you have more HP being big bore and ported. Not sure on that spring, but get engagement down to 4000-4200 which is closer stock engagement, less harder on your belt and clutch.
How can i lower my engagement what do you suggest?
first you you can find out what you have,
primary:
8bn need more info?
red spring need more info? what is the spec for this spring
helix 54-44
2 shims if you want to lower your engagement take the shims out
58.5g weights
std. split collar need more info?

Ok i will see what i can figure out might not be tonight tho, sorry for the lack of info that's all i have from my notes when i bought it, is there any special tool i need besides the clutch puller, both primary and sec. Are already off sled

just need a long treaded bolt to take off the primary cap then remove the spring
If your sled running like it should be I wouldn't change anything seems like from what you mentioned in your first post leave it alone
You should find out what springs you have replace them with the same ones

try and get us some pics of the springs you have..red don't make sense.Usually in the secondary guys use green, red or silver. In the primary it is usually a 3 color code on the spring ,this gives you the rate and force.Take shims out may drop you 200 rpm's possibly.Try stock SRX spring first y-w-y..or w-w-w primary spring. Most SRX's will pull about 52 gram weight without bogging out when punching throttle. You can afford to run more weight because you now have more horses under the hood. Now you just have to do a little testing with the primary setup to get where you want to.Stock engagement is around 4000 give or take.
Yeah true, i just think it would be a little nicer for trail riding if i drop the engagement down a little, just don't wanna lose any performance, think it might be a little easier on the parts too or wouldnt you guys worry about it engaging at 5000, the current setup has roughly about 800 miles on it
Ill try and get some pics of the clutches up tonight

sounds like a hauck clutch kit, they have a red spring, could also be heelclickers if its not heelclickers ditch the hauck kit and get some.
get some 38mm carbs, and bender big bore pipes and it will be a different beast.

Its definately a hauck clutch kit #5 and its an 8bw not a 8bn as i stated in first post, all red primary spring and silver secondary

Those clutches are going to need major cleaning,
in the primary that 8BW is the prefix for the clutch part number you have to get the actual weights that are in the clutch to know what weights you have, don't quote me on this though they might be 89a-10's these are semi drag/speed race weights
the spring looks like a Hauck Orange in the primary
The secondary looks alright just replace the spring with a new one

Yeah everything has been sitting on the shelf this summer and will definately be cleaning them up real good, what do you suggest for springs
