Heated carb knod question?

I turned the knob the other day to the on position and it took all I had and then some. Is there an adjustment to loosen this knob at all? I may never use the carb heaters but it would be nice if it worked properly.

i have had the same problem i sprayed penetrating fluid on mine, works well now. i dont know if it was the right thing to do or not but hey, it works well...

I tried wd40 maybe penetrating oil wll work better.

at what temp do you suggest to run the heated carbs? or just leave them on at all times. only reason i ask is because mine where on when i picked it up from the dealer and my brothers srx was not.

Owners manual says turn em on at 32 degrees f or less .... hope that helps.

the knob is MUCH harder to turn when the engine is warm and the coolant is under pressure. If you turn the knob before you start it, it should turn very easily

I can't stand that stupid thing...mine I have to use a wrench, warm or cold, doesn't matter. I'll try some oil to loosen it up.

Mine works when cold, almost impossible when warm

When mine is cold its the same as when warm. I used pen oil same deal. Who knows, I'll never use it anyway.

Mine would lock up when warm, but turn when cold.
told the dealer to fix it under warantee, it was better (haven't touch it in a few years), don't know what they did.

You need to use a wrench to turn the valve when coolant gets warm. When the engine is cool it is very easy. They have allways been like this. The warm water expands the fittings & you can,t budge the valve with out using a wrench.

Dealer says 20 degrees and below it should be on. Mine is very hard too turn on or off when the engine is warm.

When its cold it should turn very easy.If not use WD40.Check it several time when cold.Once you can turn it easliy cold then your OK.Don't freak out if you can't turn it when its hot thats normal.

they will NEVER be easy to turn when warm, now if you can't turn it when its cold then check it out, because something is up

They are never easy to turn, but sometimes wont turn at all when warm. (i convinced the shop it wasn't a lack of strength by dead lifting the front of the srx into the back of a non tilt trailer solo)

turned when warm for a couple of years, then stoped turning when warm, had it fixed, then proceded to just leave em on. I don't see how the air charge has a chance to warm up much in the short length of a carb throat.

Well I never turn mine on. I agree they turn when cold but not when hot.

Is there an issue with just leaving it on? I think that is what I do.
