January 17th and no snow. Suppose to get colder next week but onlu flurries in the forecast. They might not open the trails this winter. Explain why I paid $210 for a trailpass, $35 for a license sticker and $180 for insurance?
At least my sled is breaking down. Stupid sport!!

If u don't have a trailer get one, then trailer to ottawa area'on weekends. Or wherever the trails are open. They were open in Barrie a few weeks ago before the thaw.
I've put on 1400 great Kms of riding before this thaw. It's not ofsc fault there's no snow. I have buddy's in ur area that have sleds and trail passes and they only ever ride in ottawa cuz they don't get snow.
LOL, well said. But for me down here in southern Wi. our trails opened for two weeks with the best base we've ever had. Trails were almost perfect for that time. Maintaining 4 sleds was almost worth it. Its all gone now. Last year trails never even opened, first time that ever happened since I've been in this crappy sport.

Then there is added cost for purchasing trailer, gas for travel and accomodations. It just never ends for a sport that will never be the same in Souther and central Ontarion based on the warming trend.

the only place to go in Ontario right now is Cochrane & Pembroke area. other than that, everything is closed. my brother went to quebec before the thaw, stayed for 4 days and spent $1200, not to mention $160 for a trail pass. next year, I wont be buying a trail pass early to save the 50 bucks. might even take the insurance of $197 off the sled and just use it as a lake runner and road runner.

there will still be snow in the north and yes people will have to start travelling more. this already rich mans sport will become extremely expensive. maybe a millionaires sport definitely not going to see much snow in southern or central Ontario. I honestly cant wait for the biking season to start now. getting sick of watching TWN with the same results...no snow!!! at least with a bike you can use it a lot and they are so cheap maintain and operate compared to sleds.

I wouldnt call it a crappy sport... a expensive, short lived sport..yes lol Here in Ohio 2 weeks ago we had 12" and got to ride for 8 days straight and last week it all melted. I even busted out my harley saturday and rode it cause it was 65 degrees! I was told the farmers almanac says big snow in feb and march so I got my fingers crossed?!?

I hope the farmers almanac is right about the big snow falls.
Ok, it's not a crappy sport, but we'll call it patience building. It can only get better……right?
It's a crappy sport when it is winter and all you can do is wrench/stare at it.
I don't care what you call that, but I call that crappy, especially when I have invested money to ride it. It's turing out to be an expensive piece of furniture. Crappy furniture.

I think were supposed to get about a foot over the next week.
I'm de-studding and stocking up on carbides and hyfax.
Plenty of asphalt between me and the trails.

I've had good winters for as long as I can remember last year I did over 3000km
And it was a late start to the season.
This is what he have left after the thaw and now it cold
And we are suppose to be getting 10-15cm this weekend
So the trails should open after that...hopefully
