Are there smaller throttles out there? QUOTE said:I have seen ATV type thumb throttle conversions out there for sleds...maybe try googling it

exactly what I was thinking!!!! hahafourbarrel said:Does she have a sister?LMAO
Just to get back on topic, I had a great trip this year with two good guys I meet 2 yrs ago. These guys both ride 800 twins ( Po and Doo ). They have no attitude and are just out to have fun. During the weekend trip trails were perfect, we took turns swapping sleds for comparisons. Each complimenting each other on how nice their sled is. Well for 2 days we rode hard but never really had a chance to line them all up. Till the last day the trail opened up on to a river that looked like paradise to me, at least 1/2 mile straights with gradual bends and all hard pack. I was smiling ear to ear. They both stopped and lined up, I pulled up in the middle, then they instructed me to flag the race so I could get a head start. Now I'm not telling this to say my sled is faster than anyone elsewhere, and setup SRX shouldn't have a problem with either of these 2 sleds on those perfect trails. But to see those guys faces was priceless. They REALLY couldn't believe it, a sled with almost 14000 miles on original motor, completely walking them start to finish. We raced 5 more times, but they were asking for head starts now. And to pour salt on their wounds, at gas stops when they were topping off with 8-9 gal, while I was only putting in 4-5 gal. They went home thoroughly impressed with my sled. Now that trip will keep a smile on my face all summer long.

Sweet! And all with a 14k virgin!!!!!
And after 16 yrs of owning this sled, with countless other stories like that one, I still find myself staring at it in the garage with a smile. I think its love.

Just got off a 4 day 385 mile trip, 98 SRX ran without a skip, first pull on starts, skiis in the air when ever, guys I rode with all had 2013 800 cats, 1200 4s doo's and some 600 & 800 e-tec's. For some reason (working on it) (hopeful it's needle & seats), I lost close to 1/3 my normal gas mileage. So of course I got ripped big time at the pumps. Only got 30,000K on the old girl and starting to work out the bugs.LOL, So at the end of the ride the Doo 1200 guy comes up to me and say's he doesn't want me to fix my gas milage problem ?? then says "we got to have something we(new sleds) do better" LOL.

Nice, and I've thought about getting a newer sled at times, even with the wifes blessing. But I just don't think it would be the same. I know every nut and bolt on my sled personally, and that's hard to let go of. Too many good times on this sled that does everything I ask of it,…… except 3 ft moguls.

Put 140 on my 00 srx 700 yesterday. Went out with the girly freind on her sxr a couple buddys riding cats from out of town. 50 miles in we stopped for a break, couldnt help but LOL with the "wheres the gas station?" We met at the gas station and every body filled up! They were less than amused me laughing. Next question was "How much gas do you have left?" My response was "Mine just come down to the full mark!" I had ben leading the way most of the morning, Hard charging then dinking around letting the group catch up. Neither one of them cats to would stay with me (either that or they were trying and couldnt!) while burning twice as much fuel! I am an SRX junkie, Addicted, hooked, what ever you want to call it. Just the feeling in the seat of my pants when that tach hits 7k on its way to 85k puts a SMILE on my SOUL!

Theres a few canidates of "newer sleds" that stand out to me for you.....1999,2000,2001,2002......SRX's! All will have pretty similar bolts. Hand down the 98 to one of the older kids splitting a sled now.
LOL, …… NEVER !!! They won't appreciate her like I do.Devilin AblueDress! said:Theres a few canidates of "newer sleds" that stand out to me for you.....1999,2000,2001,2002......SRX's! All will have pretty similar bolts. Hand down the 98 to one of the older kids splitting a sled now.

so is this true then a lot of newer 800 sleds don't get very good gas mileage.Cat or Doo's. I thought they would be better because of EFI .What kind of fuel mileage are they getting then,I don't feel so bad now riding my old sleds.
Here's a little story about the newer doo's .A buddy of ours years back pu a 02 MXZ with a 700.It was horrible on gas.He would be almost empty as our SRX/XTC still had half a tank.He had to always fuel up again. He wrecked the sleds years back.Sold that motor to a friend who put it in another chassis because he blew the original.Well this guy with the 02 700 was racing some of the newer 800 doo's and he was beating them by 2 to 3 lengths.Them guys were stunned. Bluemonster2 witnessed this himself,as that was his buds 700 in that sled..so them 800's are not that fast and they all still eat a lot of fuel..what's up with that???
And Scotty (BM2) was easily beating the 02 MXZ originally also..wow.

The best I've gotten was 17 mpg. That was on hard packed trails and normal trail speeds. I wasn't trying to get the best mileage that day. But we filled up in the morning and put 170 miles on then filed up again and it took 10 gal. to top off. Now my speedo is off also , so I think I can get 15 actual mpg easy if I tried.
I also ride alot with a friend who owns an 06 Apex and always take less gas than him on fill ups. Proper set up is everything.

I remember your video you just posted on here, and then looking at your avatar pic, you really do drive that way. The only time both skis touch snow is at a stop. Lol
But I bet your right, WOT and still manage 12 mpg. My wifes XC 700 is lucky to get 9 babying it.

my SRX will always usually do better in gas mileage then my SXR600..so not bad with triple pipes. If I pipe the 600,my mileage would drop to 7 or 8 I bet..I could never ride all day at an easy speed..have to open it up sometimes..so mileage will go down..but the pull under acceleration is worth it.

went out today for about a 50 mile ride,it is -24C windchill and the SRX is just wild today. It was so much fun hitting the flipper and getting the pull like it does..very responsive today.I put my FRA to "A" position, limiters to 25mm and man does the sled ever feel great.I did not bottom out at all.I went over a long stretch of bumps and the suspension is working well.My back is good and no spine buster shots anywhere. So even with pro action long travel..it works Great, can't complain at all.But the acceleration today was amazing to say the least. Was there a smile on my face..YOU BET!!! Got to admit the SRX never ran so good as it does now..in all these 7 years I have had it..It is spot on now..great sleds..
