SRX still makes me smile

Glad to hear Blue, now just sit back and enjoy the best snowmobile ever made.
you bet.I mean there are different ways to run your set up.I really do enjoy the long travel skid now .I did lose speed of course..but still get to 100 quick which feels great. If speed was all I really wanted and a sore back..I could go back to stock suspension(short travel) and replace the 1 inch track back to a stock 3/4 inch track.I will gain speed but would be a rough riding sled again..the SXR shocks did improve things greatly..love that slot car feel.

main thing is that 700 motor of mine just hums now,I feel pretty safe when I go out myself and far from home.Damn good motor that puts out time and time again

Went for a 300+ mile ride yesterday, NWO trails are great, -12c have not even begun to loose our snow yet.

I rode with a large group including 2 Nytro XTXs[one was a 2013], 2 ETEC 800 Renegades, 2013 APEX XTX ect...

We rode mostly groomed trails, with a lot of miles of high speed lake running. With some play in the deep snow.

At the fuel pumps only one sled bettered me on fuel consumption and that was the 2013 NYTRO and only by one litre in 80 miles...the ETECs were very close.

On wide open lake running on the lake there was not a single sled that I could not pull up beside although I didn't even try to stay with the four strokes on their 10mile plus wide open pulls.

Notice in our group there are no Cats...everytime we've had a cat riding with us on these high mileage day trips its been towed home or gone home on a trailer...
No Bias...just the facts!

hey Bob..since you are thorough with stuff and guys are talking about Belts on another thread..what have you found that works best??Do you have an issue with the 8DN-01 belts??Maybe you could respond in that thread...

I was having some fuel mileage issues with my 98,it just seemed to be getting a little worse all the time even though I checked or changed just about everything I could think of.I more or less traced the culprit down to the long travel skid because it has been the one thing I did that I did not change back to stock besides the heelcliclicker clutching.
My project this year was to convert the electronics to the newer mag and the carbs with the tps and I have found that the mileage has certainly come back.It may not be up to where some of you guys are getting but it's way better than it has been the past number of years.

That being said I am thouroughly impressed with the 01 I bought in October, the ported engine works like a charm and pulls like a tractor plus I will go out on a limb here and say I am getting the best fuel mileage within the group I ride with.

I like the side shot of all the sleds, I noticed your SRX sticks out in front alittle. Its funny cause I always park my sled that way on stops in our group. A subliminal point that I like to make lol.

I am assuming from the pic everybody has reverse! lol

LOL!!!
You got that right...best mod[of dozens] that I have done to my SRX.
I still get a kick out of backing up in front of a group of riders as no expects the SRX to have reverse.

had another good riding day on the SRX,temps are cold and she runs great.Everything is getting hard now,but we are supposed to get more snow Sunday and Monday..here we go again..winter won't quit this season...-25C tonight without windchills.. :brr :sled1: :sled2: :sled1: :sled2: :sled1: :letitsnow

I remember the first time I pulled the lever and backed my SRX up with a crowed around, especially fellow Yamaha owners who know they don't come with reverse. The jaw drop and reading the mouths of people say "Hey that's got reverse" was pretty priceless.

My Srx

Funny I was thinking the same thing. This past weekend I took my GF's son riding with me. I let him ride my APEX GT and i rode the 2001 SRX. I had a lot of fun and I still can say that I have no problem riding that sled except for a long Canada 1500 mile trip where the APEX is better. But for the TUG HILL NY ride weekend, I actually perfer the SRX.

Mine has a Pioneer wide kit, Viper trailing arms and spindles, Viper spec front Ohlins, Viper rear skid with Ohlins, minor clutch work.

yes isn't it amazing how we are still riding our 11 to 15 year old SRX's without any major breakdowns, small things that can be easily fixed..but no real motor's exploding and such while the new 12/13's on other Brands are failing miserably and costing guys big bucks..and GRIEF of course.
