Final decision of long tracking my 600

well got my parts in from tracks USA today.I can already see I am going to have to do a stein cut out on the rear panel of tunnel extension and rivet my old backer on to the extension in order to make my exchanger fit.To bad they didn't take into account for this to make a wider back to mount exchanger and flap.If I decided to mount exchanger underneath the tunnel, elbows would be pointed wrong way..So will mount extension first and rivet it in place and chop the back end...still waiting on my nice new Blue Flap and the coolant covers from Viperking..

I like the rail extensions, they look beefy and cool as well..

I have a similar peice of aluminum is the spare parts bin from the viper. They re-used the viper cross tube. I am either going to use a SRX rear cooler after radiator shop turns inlet/outlet or a cooler from a mtn viper. Thats so far out back I think if you re-mounted as it was just moving it back it prolly wouldnt have done much good.

well got my rail extensions done tonight and the new hyfax on..I like the way the rails tip up at the back..run as a 121 on hard pack or ice and 144 in the powder.

Going to rivet the extension for tunnel on next and then cut out the back portion and rivet the stock back piece with the exchanger, hook up the water lines..bought rad hose today as well.I want to switch the shocks from the srx to this skid and re-paint some parts in the skid as well. Then get the chain case apart, remove old track and put everything back.Seems like winter is not going away soon..I may get a chance to try out the 144 yet.Snow at the back field is still 4 feet deep..should be a good spot to try and get her stuck...lol

Looks good blue. For looks I did make a trip to the hardware store and bought 4 more bolts to fill in the 2 middle holes on the rails/extension. Makes it stronger too I imagine. Looks like the slides worked good also?

yep..I intend to put 4 more bolts in the extension..drilled thru for it and just got to find 4 bolts to slip in.Tracks USA actually are pretty dead on with the rail extensions...tight fit but they snapped in to place and then bolted them.I painted the w-arm,rear arm with fresh coat of rust paint tonight also.Removing chain case and driver is my next move.I really hate this part just to get the old track off and install a new one.A lot of work by itself.

I am trying to get into tracks USA website, but they have been hacked,so site is down.I e-mailed Tony there are thanked him for the goods and told him his site has a malware problem. He wrote back and told me they got Hacked and are trying to get the site going again.I am sure they are losing $$ over this..damn hackers. At least my anti viris detected that their site was infected and told me not to try to go on there until it is resolved..everyone better check their computers and make sure you are running a good anti-virus/malware program.I am usuing 3 different programs that are all free and they work well.

yep I was concerned about the hyfax, but they work great.Bought an extra set for the years ahead.

well was working all day on my tunnel extension.Cut back out, installed original back with exchanger.Took my old bumper for now and painted it.I pu 3 feet of coolant line and ended up short because the stupid azz at the hardware store gave me only 35 inches and now I can't finish the lines... :o| :o|

Turned out not to bad for first timer..I kinda like to keep my Blue Bumper cover and incorporate it with the other viper coolant covers are are coming..I want to paint the covers Blue with Krylon Fusion spray paint for Plastic. If I can stein cut it to make it blend in,I will go that route..

Blue also for some added strength get some 1/2 inch by 1/4 aluminum bar stock and rivet it along the bottom edge from old tunnel all the way to the end of the new extension. Hartman does this and it really helps stiffen up the extension and take any flex out you may have. I know when I did mine I could tell the difference with and without it installed. I have some picks in my working log of this.

I just went through it I must not have posted any of that. I will look on my computer tomorrow. At work tonight. If not I will snaps some pics of it when I get up north. You can add those supports anytime.

great stuff..I just got my Blue Snow Flap with the nice white letters. It came from New York to me in 7 days.Found it on e-bay,that has to be the fastest delivery for anything yet for that distance.

NOW if I could just get them coolant covers from viperking soon....lol
I have to now remove chaincase and driveshaft to get the old track out and install the Cobra. With the weather out here remaining cold,I just might be sledding yet with my SXR 144.The temps are not climbing and still have a ton of snow in my property and surrounding fields.Want to try is possible to hit the 4 foot thick snow in the back..it is soft snow,so wanna see if I will float or sink into it..lol

well got the driver and old track out today..was so easy.My driver bearing is 2 years old and still fine. There was a few drops of water in there.Cleaned it all out and repacked the bearing.
I want to Mac Tack the under side of the tunnel to see if it will repel the snow/ice buildup.I know others talked about doing it.Cleaned tunnel really good and ready to go.Well back to the garage ....

well things didn't go so good with the skid install today.Something is not right.Spent all evening and quit at 11:30. Was really tough getting the skid in.Everything seems to tight..
Having a hard time to even line up the 2 front w-arm holes first.Tried lifting the center section for middle holes,it has so much pressure from track that I can't get it up far enough. Now I am feeling depressed here.

The USA rail extension is the correct one..yam200 rails. They are a full 12 inches more.I checked the track and it has 57 windows x 2.52 gives me 143.64 inches. The rear wheels are adjusted all the way in yet..strange and everything is to tight.
I may have to notch out the rear wheel slots more and then custom make longer track adjusters...why doesn't this all work, shouldn't have to modify things.
Going from a 121 to a 144 is a difference of 23 inches. My thinking is rail extensions should be 11.5 inches then.Still don't think that 1/2 inch will help me ..I have 7.5inch wheels instead of 7" stockers. If the track is slightly short by 3/8'..then that all adds up to 1/2"(rail ext) +1/4" for(wheels) and 3/8" for(track)= a total of 1 1/8".Don't even think that would help!!!Going nuts here trying to figure this thing out.

If anyone has a 144 track x 2.52 pitch..could you count the number of windows on it.I have 57 windows on the 144.

Where do I go from here..don't know..maybe put some gas on everything and let her burn..is how I feel now..I am in this already for $1000..this is really pissing me off now.

Blue my wifes track was pretty tight when I installed her skid. I too was confused and upset and I run stock 7" wheels. I had to tip sled on its side to get the middle then the rear lined up pretty easy. You may have to change back to stock 7 inch wheels, cause even on mine the adjusters are at the end. Her track loosened up nice after a couple hundred miles so that cobra will loosen up nice. Im sure you will be OK but not with those bigger wheels I'm afraid. Give it a try if you can

Also blue the suspension will be a little stiff till that track loosens up. I'm running about 1 1/4 inch of sag without any weight on the track, and I have no wratcheting at all. Once track loosens up then give it the BTV set up and you will be happy :).

Remove the rear axle and wheels then get the front bolts and rear bolts in. Then put the rear axle and wheels back in. Loosen off the transfer rods and the middle bolts should slip right in

great!! I am so upset now and with this winter storm we are getting plus with the amount of snow N Dakota has got and more to come Thursday..I am starting to turn my attention to the Flood situation now.Temps are staying cool and when we and N D start to melt at the same time..look out.
Wander why these guys at Tracks USA make the rail ext a half inch longer..there is so much adjustment but it has to be at the bottom of the slot, the nuts are a i/2 turn away from falling off right now..taking a break from it for a while I think, have bruised knuckles and my body aches from trying to get it hooked up last night.... :o| :o| :o|

on tracks USA site for that rail ext it says with stock rear wheels.Great now I don't have any new bearings for them.I do have a complete new set of wheel spacers at least to use with the stock wheels. Will have try and repack the old bearings in them now. Thanks for the help guys..you are making me feel just a tad better...lol
