Bearing, speedo side, 700sxr

My 2001 sxr700 speedo stopped working. Yes the key is broken off in the shaft. I loosened the set screws and was able to slide the bearing off the end of the axle. My question is: How do I tell if this bearing needs replaced??
There was no obvious damage to it, the seals were in place and in good condition. I cleaned it up with some Brakleen and it spins and turns freely. What is the criteria to determine if it is still usable? I could just get a new one since I went to the trouble to remove it, but if its still good that seems like a waste of $30. Is this bearing (UB205 Nsk) available aftermarket or will I need to visit the dealer. Also what are your favorite places for OEM discount parts online? I am still trying to get the broken key out of the axel shaft, I am hoping I can do this without removing the entire axle.

take the seals off, look and see if the grease is orange or there is water. since your spedo key is broken i wold say it needs to be replaced. if not just do it anyways well its off. i put an ntn one i my sled, and its holding up so i would trust it. if you pack them every year they will last forever.

There was not water inside but the grease looked like chocolate so I guess I should replace since I have have it apart. I might add the zerk fitting that I read about in previous searched posts.

Does anyone know if this bearing is available aftermarket or only through a dealer? The one I removed is NSK UB205, and I think NTN ***205NR, is the same.

yeah i think ntn is after market. find a industrial bearing distributor, thats what i did and got it cheap. or a bearing specialist, and they can find you a equivalent.
 
Roudy is correct, if you take your bearing to a industrial bearing dealer/supplier they will measure it and even cross reference with other bearing manufacturers. There is not only one company that makes any one certain type of bearing. I have done this in the past. Good Luck.
