You could pressure check the cooling system through the cap and look for coolant in the cyclinders through the plug hole before yanking the head but I don't think you'd be wasting time or money pulling the head given other's issues with this gasket. Is it using/loosing coolant?

Did you find the whole critter (did he loose any limbs)? I'm guessing the head gasket coolant passages are the smallest in the system so if there are any restictions from a collection of the invader's body parts you'd find them there. Not sure what a wad of fur would do to the pump impeller either but it sounds like you have flow.

To the best of my knowledge its not burning up coolant but I loses it for sure once hot and boiling but I shut it down once it got there. Yea, fished out the whole mouse. He was only in the reservoir bottle. Nothing bad seemed to come out when Eric and I flushed the system out either but you never know.
 
Bump... It takes a long time to overheat so I'll need someone to tear this apart and replace the brass impeller on the crank for me I'm thinking. Anyone who can semi-rebuild my triple? Thanks everyone for the wealth of knowledge this forum has. Hope everyones enjoying their yammis.
 
Better pull the water pump cover off of it and inspect the impellar. its probably stripped out spline , cheaper and easier to fix than pullin the crank out of er. That's what was wrong with mine , there known for stripping out! at least check it too make sure it isn't that.
 
pull the exhaust......... its rt. on the lower front part of the casing, make sure you drain the coolant down first, youll see it when the covers off, one nut and the impellar is off . check the splines on the imp. they are aluminum splines and strip easily. if they are a bit rounded, then that is your problem, they should be sharp edged splines. also' Tammy is an old girl friend, You can call ME, Brad

Hello again everyone, I have gotten the head off. If you guys could share your opinions in assessing everything that'd be appreciated. Are the bolts supposed to come out o the head too? Because that's what happened... No cracks in the gaskets that I can see. Only the one had some questionable marks/chipping on it? Here's the pics so take a look please!

I dont see any culprit there looking at your pics. head gaskets look ok, the piston tops are good and dry, the plugs are dry, usually they would be wet and oily looking with antifreeze. If run long enough it will wash the piston tops clean as new and shiny, same with the spark plug. Most of the time if it (compression-pressure)leaks into the coolant it also sucks it back in the cylinder some.

I hate to be the bringer of bad news but its likely its the brass gear on the crank thats causing the overheating since you have checked everything else. i have changed and had the cranks repaired for the gear spinning a few times on the redhead motors.
 
Yes I that'd be the wash that was mentioned. So I'll be taking the water pump cover off if that's possible? What's my next course of action to take? Thanks mr viper

yep check the impellar and if that's good ,then the bringer of bad news ( as don puts it) is gonna find you!
 
Don't you have to pull the whole motor to get the the bolts on the pump cover? I can see it but there's not any room really.

I took off the exhaust mani which took me a bit of time because of the tight space on the bottom bolts. Is the water pump cover all those bolts or the one that sticks out further? If that makes sense...

I need to know how to get that very bottom bolt out underneath the spout where the coolant line attaches. I've just removed every bolt but that one!! UGH! I can't get the right angle on it with a 10mm socket or open end wrench. I need peoples advice on getting that last bolt out without having to pull the entire motor. Making me frustrated! Thanks guys!
 
I'm rounding out the head of the bolt because I cant get ANYTHING fully on it. Even with a hammer wedged in and pushing the #$%&*#$%&* socket wont fit on. :o| :o| I had to set it down and go back inside before I punched a small kitten to death in frustration.
 
If anyone is still listening anymore haha... I got the cover off finally. Managed to get this last bolt by putting the 10mm socket on the bolt then not fully snapping the extension on, giving me more play in the socket. I pulled the cover and checked out the impeller. Looks fine. Ill post pictures shortly. Thanks everyone
