wasn't Yamaha supposed to come out with a new sled for the next 5 years..the Viper being the first.Where is the new one for 2015,thought it might be an SRX 4 stroker..h'mmmm!

Viper mountain. Call it a variation, new model, whatever. I think it is good progress. They weren't doing great in the mountains without a huge turbo

Not "good" progress in my eyes at all. The viper mtx didnt have to be a "new" sled for 2015 when theres no reason it couldnt of been out in 2014. Only reason is that maybe TRF wasnt able to supply enough sleds so they cut the mtx out of the 2014 linup.

Good progress meaning they have another sled that will sell well, earning them profits, allowing them to build their own stuff and stay afloat. That is good progress

I like to think that(No doubt they made profit on the yamicat)but I still figure its a soft transition to unload the sled division(came very close in 2004 to shutting the division down). If theres any chance of another pure Yamaha sled its for 2018 according to CR on his sled blog.Hoping its not an empty promise but after the last few introductions being deeply disappointed is becoming all to common.Good progress meaning they have another sled that will sell well, earning them profits, allowing them to build their own stuff and stay afloat. so no SRX 4 stroker then I gather for this time around or the next.Wow not impressed with their promise of a new sled for the next 5 years...the Apex has to go also,we need a totally new look with alot less weight and even less on price(which we know will not happen on the price thing).

Just like they did in 1996 when they released the pro-action chassis.Around the 2005-2006 model years they were really serious about reducing weight. Then came the phazer which was even lighter. After the nytro the RS/RX series chassis just keep adding weight(a new 2015 rs vector LTX is 10lbs heavier then my 04 warrior full wet). The future doesn,t looking good but if Yamaha thinks a repackaged cat is the answer they might want to look at what polaris released today........http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mz_IS6jsT5c

if either brand is gona put a turbo on the triple it would be cat but i think their gona be focusing on expanding the ctec2 line this year.
so weve got cat designing all new very strong engines for themselves and polaris has an all new chassis and engine, wel see what doo has to offer soon and I suspect yamaha customers will be the only ones missing out this year.

I rode a 2014 pro-x 800 136 last weekend and was very impressed with power and the handling, pulls skis on demand. Love the look of the new viper but heard they where slugs on the top end. 90 mph is what i have heard they top out at, not good in my eyes.

not to go against you but wasn't the Viper to be a ditchbanger.I think 90 is enough then for max out speeds. The company who sells the most sleds is #1 in sales, thats all that counts. So to be #1 you have to keep bringing in new designs and try and out do the other guys.Ski doo is #1 in sales and Yamaha is #4..wander why.Now if someone can design a complete enclosed sled with heat..well that may sell then..but you have to keep designing new stuff to get ahead and woo the mass's..I rode a 2014 pro-x 800 136 last weekend and was very impressed with power and the handling, pulls skis on demand. Greetings yamahims and yamahers. First timer here and very glad to be apart of this awesome forum. 2015's = tad disappointing. Not much has changed and I believe the reason they don't publish the weight of the Viper is because it's just as heavy as the Nytro. I lifted both at the edmonton sled show and they are both heavier than an ol SRX. I think the reason no turbo is available below 6000 ft is because the turbo has to be front mount (side exit exhaust) which builds way to much heat. Also why did they dump the supercharger kit they were supplying as an add on? That would be sick on the trails. Lastly I think the best snowmobile yamaha ever built was the late 78-83 enticer, it weighed 300 lbs and made 33 hp and is what hooked me and 2 buddies into snowmobiling, I know the phazer is aimed at younger, but would a 250-300 lb 40 hp sled for like $4000 not sell like wild fire?? What do you put an 8 year old on? Long story short, we need new stuff from yamaha, be the leader they were, not borrow a chassis from cat and then fix all the problems (ie chain case, clutches, tunnel strengthing) that's a kick in the pants to us faithful. How have prices doubled from the 1999 SRX that sold for $6799? Same clutches, same chain case, jackshaft, idler wheels, tunnel. Inflation at 2% over 14 years is 28% not $100. Just my thoughts. (I'll keep waiting for my dream sled......800cc trippple, direct injection, wet sump crank, 2 stroke in a rider forward sled similar to the XP).
