you are so right about the prices on the sleds. How did they ever climb so high..same price as a new car..insane!!!Greetings yamahims and yamahers. First timer here and very glad to be apart of this awesome forum. 2015's = tad disappointing. Not much has changed and I believe the reason they don't publish the weight of the Viper is because it's just as heavy as the Nytro. I lifted both at the edmonton sled show and they are both heavier than an ol SRX. I think the reason no turbo is available below 6000 ft is because the turbo has to be front mount (side exit exhaust) which builds way to much heat. Also why did they dump the supercharger kit they were supplying as an add on? That would be sick on the trails. Lastly I think the best snowmobile yamaha ever built was the late 78-83 enticer, it weighed 300 lbs and made 33 hp and is what hooked me and 2 buddies into snowmobiling, I know the phazer is aimed at younger, but would a 250-300 lb 40 hp sled for like $4000 not sell like wild fire?? What do you put an 8 year old on? Long story short, we need new stuff from yamaha, be the leader they were, not borrow a chassis from cat and then fix all the problems (ie chain case, clutches, tunnel strengthing) that's a kick in the pants to us faithful. How have prices doubled from the 1999 SRX that sold for $6799? Same clutches, same chain case, jackshaft, idler wheels, tunnel. Inflation at 2% over 14 years is 28% not $100. Just my thoughts. (I'll keep waiting for my dream sled......800cc trippple, direct injection, wet sump crank, 2 stroke in a rider forward sled similar to the XP).

Polaris and doo are the only ones that make sleds that are desirable and don't cost a ton. The mxz600 and the Indy 600, with the Indy costing just a little more but delivering class leading power and handling. The industry wonders why sales are not as good, but they keep raising prices higher than inflation rates. 15-16k for a the high end sleds is ridiculous.
The PWC industry went through this in the late 90's, and now we have only a couple manufacturers of PWC. Too bad it took one of the best PWC makers(polaris), one that would have been very good but only around a brief time (Honda), and not even arguably the worst PWC maker cat's tigersharks, to all exit the PWC arena before doo figured out in 2014 that a low price fun ski in the spark for 5k was needed.
