When your mechanic did the rebuild? did you have the crank checked too? If not pull it all back out and get it checked over, if the top end lost oil I wonder what the bottom end looks like. If you guys only did the top end that's nuts you should have the crank phase checked and new cranks seals done at a minimum. Maybe the oil pump got air in the lines or something is plugged? I've heard mixed reviews but after a full rebuild I always put 100-1 oil mix in with gas just in case but this will lean the fuel mix out some so you must watch your plug and piston wash.

no - not sure of anything at this point - but it has not used ANY oil in 100 miles....I added to the viper (that was following me) near a quart - and none to the SRX. not sure what else it could be?
Did you bleed the line? Theres a bleed screw by the intake boots. Perhaps you just have some air in the system

about 100 miles ago. He blew out the crank w compressed air.
yea an oil mix was put in with the gas after the build. but that was 3 tanks ago.

I am sorry but your posts are kind of all over the place. "about 150 miles ago" motor was redone, Hasn't used ANY oil in about 100 miles (suggesting it was first using oil) and now with the "that was 3 tanks ago"........ANY of my SRX's will routinely go 150 miles on A (one) tank of gas. Did you mean you topped it off 3 times since? If YES then you were leaning out the pre-mix tank each time you added fuel.

sorry I was pretty damn burnt out last night! 4 days of riding and 3 days of drinking lol
NOW the sleds starts right up - I told my mechanic that I may have leaned out the inital oil mixture - so he is going to add another oil/ gas mix and check and make sure the pump is working properly - but she seems to run now OK.......

OK thank you - in the interest of my own education - is harness a rub thru thing? electrical? I need more info on that so I can discuss with mechanic. as I really have no clue what harness means. I will be up to camp again this week - as conditions are still excellent - so be great to sort this out......

Yes, Tony is refering to the wire harness rub-through found on ALL SRX's and Vipers... eventually.
There are other areas (behind the cowling, at the bars) but the most notorious is the wire harness under the engine. It is proned to rubbing on the chassis which results in the wire insulation wearing through to the braided wire creating a grounding to the chassis or through to another circuit or rubbing clean through a circuit creating an open.
Can create all sorts of fantom/intermittent symptoms.
Just like a pro-action suspension - if it hasn't been removed for inspection and repair, it needs to be.

OK - so even with zero electrical issues up to this point -- sled has 5800 miles - this is still a possibility? OK- I will pass that along but since its phantom seems like a long shot to me.

OK well she is running fine - oil mix in the gas. OIL pump is pumping normally.
SO right now we do not know what if anything is wrong. I mentioned the rub thru issue - so he is aware of it. But he said he will ride the sled around some more today and see how it goes......

The first line of the first post said "coolant in oil". I don't know how that's possible in a two stroke unless someone mistakenly poured coolant into the oil reservoir.

He said in another post he accidentally poured coolant in the oil reservoir on his viper.

It may be a long shot but worth taking a look around. While he was in the moving stuff around re-working engine he may have wiggled or tugged on harness causing the issue. Easy enough to rule out and can wait until the snow melts if it keep running fine.

Only takes like 20 mins to pull it and tape it up. I had no electrical issues with mine, just a non working speedo. I pulled the harness and found a rubbed through wire and 2 more were starting. I don't even know what that rubbed through wire does, the speedo just turned out to be the sensor. I agree with everyone pull it and check, takes 20 mins in the garage or you can have someone tow you home if thats what the problem was.

To perform a proper inspection including removal, un-taping, repair (solder and double walled shrink tube) and most important - installing protection (split convolute or heater hose) will take longer than 20 minutes. But it is fairly easy and shouldn't take more than an hour. If the insulation is rubbed through but the wire are intact, you can use some silicone to seal the rubbed through area, retape that area and install the convolute.
If it's running fine now perhaps you can wait until the season is over but it'll nag you until you fix it.

Mine was basically the exact same thing. NO speedo, one wire rubbed, 3 more were close

hey guys.
Mechanic is taking sled on test run today (again). I will be up tomorrow to ride for a couple days. He added more oil to the gas for break in.
No other electrical issues - oddly enough the fuel guage is off - says full all the time but thats another issue I guess.
Yes I can have him check and fix up harness in the off season but we have at least a few more weeks of riding I think - may head up to maine for the last mile.....

yea so - sled starts right up - runs fine - all compression is good.
Some LIGHT scoring on the middle cylinder - but he did say it looked like it had not USED much oil (he had put some polaris oil in and it is yellow - so he said he could STILL SEE the yellow oil in the bottom of the line! So that looks like maybe there was a plug in line or some blockage - as it is flowing now.
Anyways - thats all I got. we got 10 inches here last night so hoping to get some miles in........little concerned about taking the SRX 50 miles out......

OR he forgot to hook the oil cable back up. You ran 100-150 miles so you should have burnt at least a quart of oil out of the bottom of the tank.
