SX Viper Dialing in

Ok so I have a monstered together SX Viper. I bought a 02 that was extended out turned into a Mountain Viper. Bender and MPI parts all over this sled. Rear skid was trash, and found a 03 SX Viper that had a Hauck 900 motor in it (blown) with the Pro XR Skid and Polaris wide running boards. So I have taken the motor from the Mountain and put it over to the shorty.

This sled has the TSS-98 Team secondary clutch. I'm searching for a good deal on a heel clicker kit. Not sure where to start on helix and spring for the secondary. So if anyone has any suggestions where to start that would be great!

The blue one was the original one I bought, after getting out and really riding it the track was racheting. Went to tighten the track and it was maxed out. Pulled the skid out and it was mangled. I had picked up the red one for parts but ended up swaping the motor and now its my ditch banger.
 
So I've been seeing a lot of 50° starting angles for clutching... Anyone tried 60° starting angles?

Didn't get a chance to see what spring is in my secondary yet but my helix angles are

Ok so got to my spring. Its Red with black which according to Teams website its a 140-240. It was also set to the 50-42 angles.

i did alot of clutching for a prox 700, i used a almond red, 10-66 or 10-68 weights, a 66-46 helix. What is your primary set up with for weights and spring? that black-red spring should work with that angle. You might have to get a blue-red i think it is that is a little tighter if you run any steeper of a helix.
 
Currently its got the W-W-W spring with 8dn-10 weights if memory serves me right they are at 62.5g, didn't get much testing time last year, I know I wasn't getting full rpms. Purchasing the HC-10 kit.

My setup is:
Bender port and polish 700 with bender triples
1.75 track
I think my gearing is 21/38 might be a 22/39 with 8 tooth drivers

I don't do much wide open lake running, mostly ditch riding so I am wanting to set this sled up to feel more like a dirt bike not a street bike.

Trying to figure out if a steeper 1st angle will hit harder in lower speeds or if its better to stay a bit shallower.
 
8dn weights will work good for ditch riding because they arent really aggressive. but i have never experienced running yamaha weights and primary with a Polaris clutch. To me, with running them heel clickers your going to need a pretty shallow helix, you dont want it to shift to fast and bog the engine. i would try and get a even shallower helix then that 50-44 you have. If my memory serves me correctly, the third number is the spread between the 2 first ones. I would try to get something really shallow and see if you can get it dialed in. Them team secondaries grab the belt hard.
 
Ok, this secondary setup was on the mountain sled (151 x 2)

And I should specify when I mean like a dirt bike I want that aggressive power at lower speeds to throw myself over terrain on short inruns.

yea i do back country riding too, i know what you mean lol. It was on the other yamaha you had correct? what did that have for a set up in the primary?
 
Going back through this post... yammitrip1 are saying a smaller starting angle or smaller finishing angle?

Anyone have thoughts on full progressive helixs?
 
yes, with the pipes on your sled you will have to try a smaller finish angle. i am just basing this off my experiences with polaris too btw. But with polaris 700 or 800 i used a starting angle pretty high any things from 50 -65 works great. The finish though is going to have to be less for you because you have the pipes and a narrow area to make power at. So try a 50-55 start and a low 40 finish . See if you can locate a 50-40 or around that with a blue/red srings or a red black spring. Them are rather good springs and work really well. Whats your gearing and what cogs are you using? 8 tooth or 9tooth?
 
I'm pretty sure it's 21/39. Planning on changing it to 22/38. I slapped this thing together to make a riding trip.
 
haha yea i been their before too, Your already riding???? and 22/38 and 8 tooths is what i have in mine, Should be pretty good gear as it ends up around the 1.85 final area, i might throw 21/39 on mine if it isnt low enough
 
Was March last year when I slapped it together. Then dirt bikes came out. Now I'm getting stuff lined up for my sled in the shop.
