Thanks for the pics. This is a pretty good thread so far. My steering is quite sloppy and IDK when my front exchanger is going to fall off but its getting pretty scary.

so heres the pics of my front heat exchanger. The bottom two rivets are loose. The one i have My finger near in first pic. Is it possible to pop that rivet out and put in the opposite way or will this not work? I may just end up welding this in place instead of take everything apart to get at all rivets.
In my pics I posted could I just pop some rivets in where theres missing ones? Theyd be in backwards but would it be better than just leaving it??

my exchanger its self wasnt loose, but the bulkhead it was mounted to was. if i looked under the motor i could see that plate separated from the belly pan or what ever its called. when my sled was on the ground if the skis were held and i put pressure on the bars i could get it to move. scary stuff.
Hey is this sled you made the thread about still doing well with this issue?

the fix is holding up well. put on a few thousand km last winter and it is still in place.

So I started my fix on my exchanger to bulkhead issue. The flange on the exchanger that was riveted to the bottom metal pan of sled I snapped out since it was already cracked and weak. I then took a 1/8 inch thick piece of Aluminum Right angle stock and cut it to 12 inches length. I ground it down some so the lower steering column support fits into the piece. I then drilled from the bottom side of sled where the old rivets would go and riveted the piece in. I then added another row of rivets on top of what was there.i haven't yet but where this added piece butts against steering support I will weld it there so I am not welding directly to exchanger.

Welded reinforcement plate in to exchanger and belly pan. Top weld to steering bracket off exchanger wasn't the best looking. There was still coolant in exchanger was was absorbing a lot of heat from welder. Bottom weld was better. Also reinforced steering shaft with some triangular braces to prevent flex with my new 5 inch risers. Waiting on some steering components to start button back together
