My source says Yamaha has a new model they will intro..no idea what it is..Also Rx-1 will be fuel injectioned, have more HP (rumored to be 160 Hp) , Vector front end, and it will be 12 lbs lighter than the 05....I guess we will find out Febuary 7th...This is getting interesting...don't be surprised if the new Yami model is an entry level 4 stroke....with that being said...they also have something "hot" coming...but my source has no clue if it's an 06 or 07...but he did say it will blow away even more of the anti four stroke ditch bangin crowd....again these are just rumors...but I must say..this guy told me about the Rx-1, before consumers ever saw it..at that time he said..."Yamaha has a four stroke that will replace the srx"...I laughed at him then...not laughing now....I don't know if I can wait till Feb 7th...lol I feel like a damn kid waiting for xmas to come...

Somebody saw the name listed on yamaha's website...I forget what the new sled is called though. They also have a new category listed...it sounds good. "Rough Trail".

Apex means the highest point, I am betting that it will be a new mountain sled, the attak that was listed will prob be their ditch banger,( I hope) with the viper out of commission finally I hope they make something good or I am gonna be forced to switch!!
I did talk to our yami rep yesterday he wouldnt budge but said we would be very excited. Keep our fiingers crossed, less than a week!

apex could also mean the highest point of an arc, ie... rider forward, rev like setup... where the rider, not the machines position is at the highest point, the apex of the movement of the sled.....

"9 4-strokes" and "5 new models" is left over from the 05 lineup. That's been there all year.
"9 4-strokes" = RX1, RX1 ER, Warrior, RX1 Mtn, Vector, Vector ER, Rage, Vector Mtn, RS Venture
"5 new models" = Vector, Vector ER, Rage, Vector Mtn, RS Venture
Was in local dealer, they said there will be 15 models in 06 , not counting color options.

I'm hoping to see a lightweight ditchbanging sled, I know they have the resources to do it. I think Yamaha will surprise a lot of people this year.

The resources are most certainly there, I just wonder if Yamaha will break out of the "ageing trail rider" reputation that they are aquiring. While I don't feel the entire current line fits that mold, I do agree that a 450-470 lb., 140-150 hp snocross style sled would be the perfect addition. I think this would also bring a younger audience back into the Yammien camp. It's all about sales and Yamaha has to know they are loosing sales to the lightweight/high horse ditch stuff.
If thay can build a thumper in this weight and power category, kiss everthing else goodbye!

IF yamaha brings a Ditch banging, High HP, 4stroke sled to the market that can meet or exceed the Rev/F-cat's performance The OTHERS will HAVE to follow suit and Yamaha will be on top of the sled game again for a few year before the others can catch up. It will be 1997 all over again. I would like to see a 450# 110hp ditch banger Ideally for me (as my sx-600r had plenty of power for me, I just want a 4 stroke now!)
Ya
Sounds "exactly" like all the hype that was buzzing before they released the Viper. I think that buzz ended in a DUD in stock form and look 2 years later, the All encompassing Viper hyped in 02 is gone.
Only thing that would interest me is another model SRX. 4 stroke, 2 stroke, crap it don't matter, but it better have "alot" of catch up stuff like new rider position and a suspension that skips forward by about 2-3 generations of what they have out now. 150-160 hp. and at or under 500 pounds dry.
I agree that the 4 stokers they have out now truly cater to the people who just want to turn the switch and putt. (in stock form)
Hey, I am hangin on here, but losing patience as my buddy on the Rev "smokes" in on the trail and my other buddy on the F-7 "blows" by me on the lake.

Ummm, I'm going to go out on a limb here and take a wild *** guess that you've never ridden an RX-1, especially an '05? I used to be a non-believer... till I rode one. Hands down it's better in every area than my SRX.

I have ridden every year's RX-1 and by no means is it meant to be ridden aggressively in tight or bumpy trails... It is an awesome sled for long strainght or nice long curves, but don't try to keep up to a REV of F-Cat in the rough stuff...

Yamaha developed those 4 strokes in the 2 stroke world of moto cross, don't even tell me they can't do it in the snowmobile world as well. Now all manufacturers are going after four strokes. They make them light enough there so lets hope they do the same in sleds.

I agree.. If they can get those dirt bikes to rule in the motocross world, no reason it wont work in the Ditch Banger category!
