Turning a VMAX 700 SX into MM700

i have those dimensions if you still need them.

dont be cheap, spend the coin and get the anti-ratchets. riding style will determine if you need to add the oem style outer drive wheels. if your off trail 90%, you wont need them. 50/50, consider adding the outers. kimpex used to make an add on window driver but they are not stand alone, you position them next to the lug drivers.

shit eh, i already ordered these drivers lol, they said they are made for deep lug track to get clearance Untitled.jpg if i could spend the extra coin i would, looking to buy a house shortly after winter so wife is being pretty picky with money

hey guys, been looking for drivers still and been finding that people have put on kimpex anti ratchets, but i can't seem to find them anywhere, from pics it looks like the take off the otters and push them up against the centers and thats it, actually MM800 has something like what i keep seeing, does anyone have a part number for these? IMG_3917.jpg also, can't find a 2 inch paddle for a decent price so i picked up a 136 1.5 paddle, do i still need to go 8 tooth with the anti ratchets?

I have used that style of anti-ratchet. I have no complaints. I left the outer drivers off to save weight. Try recreation supply in Saskatoon...................SRXtreme

okay thanks alot, but changing style. MM800 sold the first set and the second set he thought were 8's but were 9's so he has a set of 8's that are just the 2 extrovert sporckets. even tho going 1.5 still want 8's just in case i want to go bigger. was wondering if any has used the team yamaha clutch conversion kit, 03-930955-YM, i know with gearing down to 22/40 and the 8 tooth drivers im going to have to do some clutching.

you can't put a narrow front end on a wide stance pro action and use your long shocks. sorry but they just don't fit. the arms won't drop enough to even bolt the shock on. the steering tie rods bind well before you get enough down travel. I found this out the hard way last winter when trying to put viper shocks on my mountain max

IDK about viper shocks, maybe they are a 40" stance not a 38. My SRX has been narrowed and still uses the wide front shocks. My 99 uses shocks off an XTC with no problems either...................SRXtreme

so on your srx you just used the mountain max radius rods and tie rods with the stock shocks?

On my 02 mountain max with the 38" stance I swapped my stock shocks for viper mtn shocks. the first set I bought were of a viper an were the longer length. they didn't fit. supposedly they even came off a mountain max. maybe before the pre 2000 update the mountain max used the wider front end. With the narrow front end there isn't enough suspension droop to bolt them on......by a long shot. My first set got flipped and I found a set of viper mtn shocks which are aluminum body kyb's in the shorter length. They are a direct swap, a little lighter and rebuildable as well as valved a little better than the steel shocks from the get go.

okay, i have been told oyu can just used the radius rods and tie rods with stock shocks, if i gotta find a set of shocks now the wifes going to be pissed haha, have another question, where im extending it out, i need a tunnel extension but do i just put one on and that's that, or do i need to mount a different cooler. It's just to a 136 so hoping i can keep stock cooling system, it's a mtn sled on a budget lol. wish i could get more parts from the states cause of the price, but right now with the dollar so low somethings that is $200 USD comes to 274 lol. it was -2 c (28 f) here two nights ago so probably looking at an early winter want to get everything done.

Take the in/out nipples on the rear cooler and rotate them 90° so you can mount in the top back of the tunnel. I have welder that does a great job with aluminum and he charges me about $20 to do it. I have some pictures in a previous post of one done in one of my previous builds. If I find the post I'll share the link.

you want to keep the crossover cooler for sure, mtn sled cooler come up every once and a while but they are pricey, even used. Given the size of the mountain cooler in the whole cooling system I think out west where you are in deep snow all the time you could get away with a crossover pipe. In new england I'd never think about getting rid of it. If I get on the trial for a long run I'll still pack snow on my running boards just because, and its usually pretty well melted when I get to where I'm going and head off into the woods.

I picked up those viper mtn shocks off eBay for $100 2 years ago. They were take offs from a parts sled. the seller said they had under 2000 miles on them. by the looks of them when they showed up I wouldn't question it.

Ya, but it would cost me almost 3 for those because of the exchange rate, I just want to know if I can use mountain mac radius arms and tie rods on a vmax, some people say you can and you said I cant, don't have the parts yet to try

your going to find yourself with shocks that are too long to work, from my experience anyways. your also going to have to commit to remove the way bar or get a narrow one because it won't line up either.
