We had about 5 to 6 in. of snow already. Bunch of sleds already drove around town. But the weather network is announcing +4 to +6c with rain this week. So its as good as gone. But for now my area looks like winter.

Check out this thread: http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/...600-Twin-Looking-for-better-throttle-response
I've got the same exact sled except a '98 and followed the recommendations and it made a HUGE difference. I think the clutching was the biggest help.

Only thing I didn't do was the clutching. My wife rides it mostly on the trail. So I'm gonna see how she likes it now and adjust from there. Did the head gasket and add vforce reeds which should do the same as the stopper notch. Plus the track.

Be prepared to add some weight to the tips. I'm thinking 7700 RPMs is what your shooting for.

Did not do the gears yet. She's running good now that I fixed the reed issue last year. Just pulled it out of the trailer and into the garage to start prepping for this season. Plan to do much more riding only put 100 miles on it last year. We got a place up north now going to be riding the Higgins lake area heavily. You think gearing it down will make a big difference? I may do that this year if I can find the gears. Also looking for plastic skis. Any thoughts where I can find vForce reed petals for those viper cages?

haha you're right, been a year :P. It's in my parts bin. I didn't put it on last year as I already had the case back together. But looks like i'll be tearing into it now!

That should make a big difference compared to the stock 23 tooth gear. It's crazy how over gear the 600 twins were!

So ran the sled today... Track hooked up awesome. But I still have a bad mid range gurgle. Idles great, and cleans up above 6k rpm. Guess I'll dig into the carbs and check where my needles are at...

FYI. If I recall those stock 600 twins are prone to ring pins failing and rings spinning causing them to catch the exhaust ports. Hope you don't have any problems but with that low mileage I'm wondering if it ever has had the updated Pistons installed. Sled looks good, good luck.

Sled original owner was the wife of the local Yamaha dealer, I would hope that its been updated. Pistons looked good when I had the head off.
