what else is needed to beat a F7

Okay guys thanks for your input on the clutch setup. I have all the parts on the way. Do you guys figure that my 98 srx 700 will give a stock f7 a run for its money now from start to finish. I have good weight transfer and traction and soon I will be clutched with the set-up that mrviper700 and turk recommended. If you guys dont think I can beat a f7 yet then what suggestions do you have that will put me over the top?

My son's '02 Viper with triples, clutching, V-force reeds, neutral transfer, and 1.25 Camoplast (no studs) pretty much beats his buddy's F7 every time. I'd think a clutched SRX 700 certainly ought to be in that game.
 
Does anyone know of any signifigant horsepower gains that I can do with the srx 700 that doesnt cost too much $$$$. Ive heard of some good and bad reviews for some things like reeds, cold air kits, and jetting.

don like grinding aluminum LOL it keeps him busy. send him $360 along with your jugs, pistons, and heads for atleast another 15HP. put the clutching in there he reccomended and a good 1.25 track or descent youll be in business
 
Add 2 extra base gaskets & shave the heads 25 thou. Cheap 6 hp.
 
turk ive heard of doing that on the 98-99. can you do that to all the others? can you tell you have a 6HP gain?
 
I have never personally known any one that has done this to a newer one so I can,t in all good faith give you an answer.
 
I can shave the head 25 thou very easily because I am a machinist and I could do that on my break. Will it effect the reliability, do I have to adjust the jetting, and is premium fuel okay(91 octane). Last but not least will I actually notice the difference.
 
The heads are aluminum as tomseal said.

As for beating an f7, nothing is needed in my opinion. When we were off on vacation, we headed up to minoqua one day over by the whale and I lined up with two f7's. The first time I raced them, it wasnt even close. By the end of the race (I kid you not) my sled won by at least 10-12 sleds. I took them out of the hole and the entire way. The second time we raced there was the same result. The thrid time, I went over to my brother and told him to video tape it to get some black mail on these f7 guys but they did not want to race again.

would like to know what he said for an explaination lol
 
My sled is not bone stock. It is clutched perfectly, it has got the traction, but really no motor mods. I really do not think any of the f7's are fast at all. Infact, my brothers 98 srx 600 beat one of the f7's but not the other. I have yet to lose to an f7 out of the many that I have raced. They do not impress me yet.

How are you clutched and geared.
