anyone know if a 2001 sxr set up correctly will beat a 2000 xc 600 with clutch kit/reeds/can?

ill go against the flow here and say the xc will be the winner, espically in a short race. those genII 600 twins were fast 600's! 115.8 hp @ 7900 rpm's w/ 77 lbs/torque and lighter weight too! they were also low and the chassis had low rolling resistance, so good top end for a twin. i'd hate to say it, but i think my 03 pro x 700 and attak would be a close run to 60mph.

I think if all the mods were done to the sxr (head gasket, geared down, silencer drilled out, and clutched and jetted) I think it wouldn't be close at all.
Been der dun dat. If the 600 is a powervalve motor your gonna need pipes. Done that race a lot of times. Them powervalve 600,s really fly. You might get him on a very long top end run without pipes.

Yep, I got them in the mail yesterday. About $40 for a set of 4 90 Duro motor mounts.

No grief. Pulled my motor. I'm going to send it to Indy Specialty in Shakopee to get the PTO wide bearing upgrade, cheap insurance IMO. Going to replace the motor mounts while I'm at it as the stock 65 Duro mounts don't hold that 800 in there worth a crap.

I was thinking about it, but they want $500 to port it and they said it's only worth about 5 HP. $100 per HP......I'll pass. Next year I might buy some twin pipes for it.
I'm going to ride it this year with the 144", clutch it, and gear it in the 2.0 range and see how I like it before I invest in more HP.
