i think he's talking pipes vs pipes. meaning just the stock pipes vs just the pi pipes. therefore you would only measure the stock pipes minus the shields against the pi pipes, leaving out the silencers on both. that would be a pipe - pipe weight difference. but in your case i believe you are doing the weight saved by switching to these pipes so you would do like you said and weigh what you had on compared to what your putting on in place of.

Yes on the scal of the stock pipes I have, 3 manifolds, 3 pipes, 1 silencer, 1 silencer holder (aluminum piece riveted to bulkhead) and I forgot to put the exhaust donuts on the scale. THe stock SETUP weighs in at 42.5 pounds as you can read on the scale. With the powerinc pipes, I put the 3 manifolds, 3 pipes, 3 silencers, and the aluminum plate for the silencers to go on to. This weighs in at 24.5 pounds. Both the things I weighed were complete setups meaning if I threw either on the sled, it would run without anything else added to it (besides springs). These pipes save 18 pounds total. Off of memory however, I believe the stock pipes vs the powerinc pipes alone are very close, powerincs are like 2 pounds lighter or something like that. Hope this clears things up.

What he means is that to actually gain the 8hp (in the winter) you need to wrap the pipes..so you should include the pipe wrap in the total weight. There is still a significant savings even with the wrap. Even if there was no weight savings it's 8hp!!!!! We ran these pipes for a number of years and they work very well.

I talked with the man himself who made the pipes and he was very honest with me. He told me the only way these pipes made heeps of HP was by blocking off some of the vents in the hood to keep the pipes nice and hot. Obviously I am going to keep the brake vent and clutching vents open but some are unnecessary and should be blocked off to keep the pipes hot. Thanks for the help guys to get these pipes going. Do you recommend wrapping the pipes aswell as blocking off some of the hood vents?

I ran Power Inc pipes on ported 700 SRX with Mega Power Heads and had a pipe heat issue, I would get inconsistent rpm on a full throttle pull. I tried rapping them...helped a little, blocking off vents...very little change. The thing that worked was smaller stinger tubes, they come stock with 1 inch I.D. and I switched to .950 and they worked great for a honest 5 HP on the dyno. The set I had would go into the stock silencer and did not look like the ones pictured.
