For anyone considering a riser you need to look at the type of riding you do. If you would like to stand up more to take on the bumps or playing in powder, you most certainly will want to go to a pivot riser. Because of the angle of the steering post, a riser block will lose some effective height gained by the block. It also makes it difficult to lock one of your boots under the footrest while standing because the bars are pushing you rearward.
I feel that the best pivot riser on the market is made by Rox, period. The Rox pivot riser is the simplest/cleanest design and best manufactured riser you can find. It looks like a piece of jewerly. The Rox is also a couple bucks cheaper than the Powermadd and Sportech designs. The Rox booth at the Novi Snowshow had these risers in colors. The blue one looked sick! You can get Rox risers from Rich's Motorsports.
I installed a 2" Rox pivot riser on my Viper this fall after riding with a 1" riser block for the past couple years. If you search the forums in this site you will find that 2" seems to be the max height you can go without extending your cables. I would agree with this after installing my 2" Rox. Bring on the snow!
