"my son's first sled". what was yours.

Mine was a early 70's AMF Ski-Daddler w/ a very bad exhaust leak. I think my old man was trying to get rid of me.
 
first sled

I had a 1970 SW396, brother had a 1969 SL351. Oh yea those bring back very fond memories. Still have the 1969, wish I never sold the 1970. Big fun when we were 8 years old !!
 
My first sled was a 1987 Yamaha Inviter. My uncle got a good deal and bought a SRV, Ovation, Inviter, and a trailer for $1200. His daughters didn't like the Inviter because of the weird look to it. I bought it for $100. That year ice fishing was the most memorable by far. I just recently got an 01 SRX!!! I cant wait to see the difference between the 2
 
New '70 Skidoo Olympic 12/3...we used to take it to fishing derby's, the adults would get all boozed up and we (kids) would ride snowmobiles all day.

we had several sleds growing up. yamaha EL433B, john deere JDX8, john deere cyclone 440, arctic cat puma 340 that never ran right (imagine that) and arctic cat trail cat 440. that yamaha outlasted them all
 
Mine was a 1966 Ski Doo Olympique. Was my grandfathers. My brother used to ride my uncles 1969 Olympique and we'd race around the yard playing "cop's n' robbers". My son will be moving up from his Kitty Cat this year to a Ski Doo Olympique with an Elan 250 motor in it. I still ride my "71" Olympique 335 that I bought for $1.00 8 years ago. Still fun as hell! and an awesome "unstoppable" trail breaker. Can't beat em' pound for pound!
 
Mine was a JDX8. Good runnin sled. My sons first was a leaps and bounds better than the Deere.......a Yamaha Inviter. I didn't think anyone could burn up a whole tank of gas going around and around the cabin. Single cylinder 300cc sleds don't use much fuel.......especially at 1/4 throttle.
 
1978 6500 RV man i miss that thing......had a rv 340 a few years ago but sold it too! great machines one of the lightest 340's the RV 340 air cooled was next to the JD spitfire 340
 
just 2 cylinder difference not much..

My first sled was a 1973 allouette mini brute when I was six, when I was 8 I had a new 1975 yamaha gp 246 and its been yamaha's for the next 38 years.
 
First sled was a 1972 EXT.. Transplanted a 433 Yammi engine into it when I was 13. Havent stopped working on them since,,
 
first sled was a polaris tx 440, got it x-mas day of 1978, was 8 yrs old, i can remember it like yesterday, now im 40 and cant remember what i did yesterday... :o|
 
1968 Rupp. Pieced together with ski doo and Polaris parts, we called it the skiruppolaris. Broke into 2 pieces after an "I bet you can't make it" jump.
 
I received my first sled for Christmas 1964...a 1965 Snow Cruiser. I entered it in my first race that winter and placed second...that started the obsession and between Oval, XCountry, + Drag racing I continued to race sleds up until 2007 when the snow drags stopped and, unfortunately, still no longer exist in my area.

I was spoiled in the 90's as dad kept getting new ones. You can see the gap when I turned 18.
 
back in 00 or 01 when i was 19 or 20, my dad bought a coulple 97 600 xtc's. i beat up on the black one and he rode the blue-green/teal one. i guess i probly dont appreciate how good i had it because i never rode any of the old sleds. i inherited his 2003 viper in 05 which i still have with 11,200 miles. last january i bought my first new sled all on my own, sadly a 2010 renegade 800r.
 
Here was my first sled. 1997 Polaris XLT Special bought it with a broken motor and rebuilt it 3 times before selling it with the motor in a box. Had the famous bad crank problem. But it did teach me a lot about snowmobiles and gave my friends a lot of laughs. When it ran good it was a lot of fun, but was always shortlived. After that I bought a yamaha and never looked back.
