No Snow has to be hard on the Mfger's ?

Big drain on the dealers - the manufacturers sell their sleds to the dealers. Problem is, you will see dealers back off on next years orders, so if you want a new new sled it may be hard.

I'm shure the mountain sled sales are picking up all the manufactures seem like they been really concentrating on the mtn sleds the last couple years.I just bought my first true mtn sled this year. They been getting hammered out west.

In general, the slow snow years are undoubtedly hard on the manufacturers, dealers, and especially the businesses that thrive on snowmobilers such as hotels, restaurants, aftermarket performance companies, etc. The low snow really is depressing and really takes its toll on several facets of industry and the economy in general. That being said, arctic cat's unit sales went down last year, but there profits went up a few percent. Selling less sleds means more expensive sleds, another negative effect.

Arctic Cat just had fewer sleds to recall and do warranty work on and when you factor in little or no snow it really reduces warranty repairs.

I drove through Munising today and the hotels, motels, and cabins are all empty. Pretty sad shape there. Marquette Mountain ski resort has been making their snow for a week now to get some skiers in.

I think we will start seeing the smaller dealers fold and just have one or two large dealers in the metro areas. The ski-doo dealer Anchor Marine in Appleton, WI just hung up his ski-doo dealership, but he said he can still do warranty work this year. This weather blows!!! Looks like that storm that was supopsed to be coming looks like a lot of rain.

yamaholic22 said it right pooor snow = poor sales (most of the time)which means less profit for mfgs = were not making any money so lets rais prices to increase profits which means me and you pay more for a new sled. in 99 i paid 6300 for a phazer (spanking new) now there how much?

Just my view on poor snow conditions

No Snow

I ride in Northern NY. Was talking to my dealer last weekend. The new products are to be announced in Late January, Early February. The Manufacturers are shit scared that any knowledge leaking out about the new models for 2008 will kill sales of the left over 05's , 06's and 07's. Dealers are being told to get rid of leftovers any way possible. Still not a good deal if there is not snow. We can always bite the bullet and drive to Northern Quebec and get all the riding in in a 2 week period rather than the usual weekend trips to Tug Hill.

well I agree with the no snow=no sales thing. But I have to say if it goes another month without snow there's a nice vmax that's going to be put up for sale... I love the sled love to ride.. and never get to..

My dealer went under last year (worst thing ever) and the cat/polaris dealer across the street lost the cat sled sales this year. they are still able to do repairs and sell parts this year, and they may lose that next year depending on how this year goes

At this rate, there will also be an 02 Viper for sale after this year. It's just not worth it. I'll just bite the bullet and go rent a few times a year--if the rental places don't all fold.
