I dont know the canadian laws, ( i dont even know the american laws for that mater) BUT,,,, anytime you have detonation, most likely, is caused from OPPOSING flame fronts in the combustion chamber.. We can get into flame kernals and BTU values of 2 stroke oils,,,but,,, lets keep it simple... You want to get the fuel to atomize less... What I mean by that is EITHER cooling the cylinder down by adding MORE FUEL at the point of detonation OR slowing down the burn time of the fuel... You can probably buy tolulene or MEK from a paint supply store,, but those are dangerous if you make a mistake (spill),, your sled won't be too pretty anymore!!! Octane boosters WILL solve your problem but WATCH OUT what kind of booster you buy.. personally i recommend KLOTZ,, but GET A MSDS from the company's website and LOOK AND SEE WHAT chemicals are doing the boosting!!!! THE DCS system notices detonation... When the orange light flashes,, it lets you know the cdi box is actually RETARDING your timing until the detonation goes away... The EGT's will show a drop in their temps,,,creating a cooling (if you will) sensation in the combustion chamber,,,, I think there is a preset 4 degree drop, but common sense would tell me that it would keep retarding the timing until the knock goes away!!! 1st... try 92 or 93 octane,,, then octane booster,,, then rejetting,,,before you go for the head mods!!!!
