Ok. The 10 tooth drivers are in. I cut back to just the two center drivers. The 10 tooth drivers fit in the SRX chassis, but you have to remove the front heat exchanger protectors. There is still more than enough clearance in there for the 1" ice picks that I run. I have to thank Doug Swartz (gmcsrx) for letting me know that the 1" picks will work with the 10 tooth drivers, as long as the track doesn't ratchet.
With the bigger drivers, I am cutting back the gearing to 23/38. This ratio, with the 10 tooth drivers, is geared for 134.5 mph at 1:1, which is close to the 24/36 that I was running previously with the 9 tooth drivers (133.2 mph). I was pulling 12% overdrive with that gearing, which isn't very efficient. The reason I wanted to keep the geared speed the same is to see how the resistance is affected with the larger drivers. After I make a pass with that gearing, I will then throw in 24/37, which will gear the sled to 144.1 mph at 1:1, and 151.3 mph at 5% overdrive. I would like to keep it at 5% max, so we will see how it works out for me.
This weekend I will be playing around with many different setups (provided there are no other issues). After the gearing is figured out, I am going to start to throw more helix at it. It is happy with the 37 finish angle I am running, but i know it will like more. More angle = more acceleration = more speed (to a point of course)

Terrible day today. The conditions were terrible. My sled is not holding rpm. I only ran 144.2 mph, and was at 8700 rpm at the 2000' mark. I am down 40 hp at 8700. The last day is tomorrow. Hopefully i can figure it out, and that the conditions will have improved.

Ya, I think my best was 148.3 mph or so. I have a strong feeling, along with others, that my rings are cooked again. It was falling off on rpm again, and just not pulling as hard as previously. Today should have been well over 150.
Oh well, the year is done for racing. There are going to be big changes for next year anyways.

I just scored some used Proline billet aluminum 10 tooth drivers. I picked up two full inner drivers, and the two half outer drivers. They are the older style that don't use hubs, but still a smoking deal. They are $155 each from Wahl. I picked up the set of 4 for $125. Good deal

Great score!!! Get them mounted and true them up. Do you plan on running the outers?? I sure wouldn't for radar runs...

Nope, I will be selling the outers.

I pulled the cylinder head off to take some pictures of the exhaust port design for Iantomasi's opinion, and i have some scoring on the exhaust side of the PTO, and the intake side of the Mag. Basically a 4 point score, but only two points on each. The rings look fine, and the crosshatching still looks good on the cylinders, so the rings aren't worn out. It is good news. Here are some pics.
I even know when it happened. It was my last run in North Bay on March 9th, when I pulled 148.4 mph into a heavy head/crosswind. I felt a hesitation / partial shutdown at about the 1900' mark. It has to do with timing. 18 degrees is way too much for 2000'. Don't ask why I did this again. I'm a glutten for punishment.

We knew you would figure it out. Looking forward to seeing it in the 150's next year.Have a great summervalin said:I pulled the cylinder head off to take some pictures of the exhaust port design for Iantomasi's opinion, and i have some scoring on the exhaust side of the PTO, and the intake side of the Mag. Oh well. We break, then we fix. I guess that's how we learn.

Ahhh.........the mailman came today
First, we have a set of titanium trailing arms, with titanium spindles, and billet aluminum steering arms. Each side only weighs an incredibly low 4.4 lbs complete. I am told that the OEM arms, spindles, and steering arms are 11 lbs each side. They are going to be painted black, although it's almost a shame to cover up such beautiful welds. I also have to figure out how to cut 1" off the bottom of the spindle post, since these are off of a viper, and are 1" longer than the SRX's.

That should lighten it up.Are you going to take the stock boat anchor ski's off and put some sly dogs on or something light.
I don't know if I would put power madd drag ski's on going 150+ though.
It's not much but you can take out the stock steel bumper supports and put some aluminum viper one's in.

The ski's have to remain 40" long. How much lighter are the sly dogs?
I was planning on having Concept Carbon build me a set of skiloops and saddles out of carbon fiber to cut back on weigh.

I think they are 4 lbs with the carbide.
I forgot how much the stock ski is but it's heavy.

Hey i thought that your posts were very interesting. We currently race a price 1000 prostock srx that we have had very similar problems with. We currently grass drag and ice race this sled. Our fastest grass drag time in 500 feet is a high 4.6 at about 110 mph. Our fastest ice mph in a 660 feet is 124 mph. Here is a couple of pics for you. Maybe this will give you a few ideas. let me know what you think.
