SRX 1108 Race Sled Buildup

Ok, the racing season is coming, so I did a bit of work tonight. I had the plate built that I am going to install into the tunnel to add some clearance, so tonight I pulled the driveline out, and did a bit of cutting.

The plate:

It measures 12.5" wide and 26" long, with a 5/8" wide lip on 3 sides, and a 2" wide lip on the front. It is going to give me 5/8" more clearance in the tunnel.

Definitely good for a few mph. :)

Everyone loves the Flintstones!

looks great valin ....how is that gonna work with your fuel tank??? will it still fit under steering hoop?

My fuel tank is all cut apart. I have an aluminum 5.5 liter fuel tank mounted inside the original tank. The reason I had this pan built at 12.5" wide is so that it will fit inside the original fuel tank shell, and you won't see it at all when the hood is closed, so it will still look factory and you won't even know it's there.

As for the steering.....there is no steering post....I run a cable steering setup. This wouldn't have affected it even if I was running a stock steering setup though.

I installed the plate today, and sealed it all up with Ultra Grey. No more Flintstone sled. I also cut up the fuel tank a bit more to accomodate for the 5/8" taller center section. A few pics...

i am sure they run just need a little maintance ....or at least probally didnt seave you stranded make it home under iys own power ??

My trail sled (far sled) is running.
I need to put the chassis back together for the race sled.....few hours worth of work. No biggie. It'll be running sometime this week.
The closest sled is the 2000 I might be parting out. The motor is out of it at the moment.
The blue SRX in the middle is one of Dan's (Jabber800) trail sled, and all he has to do is throw on his heads, intakes, carbs, and pipes, and it's pretty well good to go. He's just finishing up that new build. It might even be faster than my trail sled.
And the Banshee in the back, well, it still needs the Cub cylinder, pistons, and billet intakes before I can fire it up.

I'm going to start off very easy. It's currently geared 24/37, so you guys can figure it out. :)

I'll post results when I get back.

I treated the runs as a break-in period, since it was the first time out on the new motor. I just burped it down the track all weekend. The fastest I pushed it was 133, which takes no time at all. It is going to run hard.

nice.

hope i can get out to see it run this year. surgery on feb 18th for my left knee. might toast the rest of the season for me but we will see.

Is there anything going on this weekend? I am going to be up in Noelville(near Sudbury) for a hockey tournament, and I wouldn't mind coming to see some of these races.

Well, it turns out I cracked my crank cases again. They are twisting far too much under power, so I am now looking for a new set. If anybody has a set of 8CH cases, PM me. I'm in a bind.

do they make Crank girdles for sled? that would be awesome thats what i used on my turbo B18C1 block to keep stock crank in place under 18psi of boost
