I went down and picked up the motor from Iantomasi on Nov. 30th. The work Gerry did was perfect, at a great price. So, I became a bit ambitious today, and started to do some work. I don't have much to do on the race sled, but there are a few things I need to do to get it ready (build motor, install a 2nd fuel pump, and move the brake caliper). Other than that, the chassis should be ready to go. Today I got cracking on the motor.
A pic of the transfers, if anyone's interested....
Pistons, cylinders, and intakes installed. A friend is machining me some 50 thou spacers for my heads so I can install them because the domes were changed quite a bit.
Here's a pic of the boosters and exhaust pot. Gerry was able to round out the main exhaust ports alot, since he had to cut them an additional 3mm taller to obtain the proper port timing, and that's on top of the 68 thou of additional base shims.
Exhaust side.
And finally a picture of the monster, sitting on a custom snowmobile lift. Then, sitting on the tunnel, there's the the not-so-beautiful ceramic coated pipes that I had sandblasted. This year they'll just be painted black. I think i'm missing something..........has anyone seen my seat? Dan maybe?

Ryan, Those ports look good. I called Ger Last week and he told me he had your motor there. The exhaust ports/flanges are huge. The chassis looks great, what are you looking to hit this year at NBSSR?

i know alot of people who currently work there and worked there myself for awhile. strike doesnt look like its gonna end anytime soon on this end. seems like the company has no intentions on settling this.

I just finished reading this entire build thread. Wow!!! I've put a few race sleds together but nothing even comes close to this project.

It was probably so loud because the porting was so out to lunch. I am expecting it to be more quiet this year.
No new progress really. I had to look at a few options to fix an issue I am having. The 11 tooth drivers are HUGE, so even with the dropped and rolled chaincase, the 1" ice pics are still cutting through the tunnel. Normally, this would be no big deal, but since I'm running open carburetors, so there is a chance that ice and water could enter my motor, so it has to be addressed.
What I am going to do is cut out the entire top of the tunnel from where the fuel tank meets the seat, all the way forward to the jackshaft, install a 3/8" aluminum shim, and install a new aluminum tunnel plate on top of the shim to give me the clearance I need......basically just raising the tunnel a total of about 1/2", which should be more than enough room. It's a big project, because I have to pull everything apart in order to do it, but it has to be done. Since the inside of my fuel tank is all cut out anyways, you won't even see this from the outside, so it will still look good, which is very important to me.
I could always just cut back on driver size, and run 10 tooth drivers, which MAY be enough, and if not then just sharpen the ice pics down a bit to ensure I have enough clearance. However, it will be faster with the bigger drivers, so really, this is not an option for me.

i kinda liked it that way, sounded mean. but i'm sure it'll be more powerful now and thats what really matters, good work as always

Well, it is not going to be quiet by any means. Also, in the video's you saw, it was run on straight pipes (no silencers). It was abnoxious. People would cheer when I would shut it off. NOBODY liked it.
