Both of these kits work great on 2 strokes also (thought I better add that!!).

I agree this is what I was trying get across.The boss and holtzmen are very similar kit's it's just boss is a little more on the # vs holtzmen they both work great though.
 

As far as using a STOCK CRANK (and rods) that crank would NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS handle that kinda horsepower... NOT WITHOUT SPENDING HUNDREDS of dollars to relieve the rods (and maybe even cryogenically treat them) and WELD the crank together did that motor work.. They say "stock" because they rework the parts (they are still "stock"),,, but reworked to DEATH...BEFORE you get on the bandwagon,,, READ THE BOOK!!! It will cost you SHIPPING to the next guy... GET IN LINE and sign up for the book to be sent to you!!!!
 
as far as your question 87gtnos..... NO,, I wouldn't use a holtzman system.... I wouldn't use a boondocker system either!!! THERE is this guy, I think his screen name is srx2000.. He is from NORTHERN ILLINOIS and HE SELLS a nitrous system... I WOULD USE HIS SYSTEM or,, I would build one on my own.. As far as the frosty bottle 87GTNOS..... READ THE BOOK!!!! (you need it)

umm, no, the results speak for themselves...I got exactly what I was looking for.
How can you still deny that?

How much more would one want from their nitrous kit?

and btw...there are lots of 2 strokes making 300+ hp with a welded crank and no special rods!!!!!
 
you DONT want the nitrous to FOG in the airbox and change the relative air density, air temperature,humidity or barometric pressure IN THE AIRBOX... WHEN you shoot a "positive pressure" (compared to "ambient pressure") you change the WHOLE science of carburetion and throw it out the window... the CARBS will NATURALLY create a LEANER condition (because of the pressure ALONE) not to mention the NITROUS'S 02 content.. and cause the WHOLE SCIENCE of carburetion OUT THE WINDOW!!!! NITROUS systems work BEST when you spray nitrous and fuel into the CASE!!!!(usually at the crank)!!!! The fuel and nitrous need TIME TOGETHER (especially with the HIGH OCTANE FUEL) go "get to know each other" (if you will) so the fuel can atomize-vaporize (whatever you prefer to call it) so the mixture can enter the combustion chamber to "do it's thing"!!! I've met and talked to Barry a few times and MOST of his ideas impress me... Some don't!!! I'm sure he feels the same way about me and my ideas!!! BUT thats O.K. If you want to talk to srx2000, he'll talk to you and tel lyou ALL ABOUT NITROUS just like a LOT of guys out here on this forum!!! If you want me to endorse a system that is available to the general public,,,, SRX2000's system would be MY PICK....... Gary Oles nosboy

Gary, I hate to say it, but the bottom end is stock and has no work done to it. No bandwagon here Gary, simply facts! I don't need to read a book either, I already know what works for trail snowmobiles and there are two simple systems out there!

SRXspec,, I don't want to argue with you... The 2 systems in question work,,,, yes,,, I said it,,,, they work!!!! I will agree with you that they work.... I keep telling you that i can get a 20.00 gallon of MEK to work just as good as a 500.00 system.... They are not EFFICIENT as a system that is sold by Mike Thermos or Holley!!! or a system by SRX2000.... That is why I started with my .02 in the first place!!!
 
as far as the bottom end having NO WORK done to it.. I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!!! I have had YAMAHA snowmobiles and YAMAHA makes some REALLY GARBAGE CRANKSHAFTS!!!! They ALWAYS HAVE made some JUNK.... JAPANESE metal is SUBSTANDARD to AMERICAN STEEL and their version of 1010 or 1018 or even 4130 FAILS MIZERABLY by comparison to AMERICAN STEEL!!!!! unless you take that japanese crank out and -300 below it (and weld it up) it will NOT LAST if it even lasts a pass.. put an indicator on that crank after 1 300hp pass and see what I am telling you!!!!

EDIT..SORRY NOSBOY, I DO SEE YOU ARE TALING ABOUT CARBS....
nosboy, explain how my WIDEBAND O2 guage runs at 12.2 to 1 on the motor at WOT and 10.5 to 1 when spraying nitrous? Is the fuel mixture screwed up as you say?

nosboy you are also correct about pressurizing an airbox...the carb bowl vent lines should also be pressurized in that case....BUT, remember these nitrous kits are providing ENOUGH fuel to compensate for this....
 
Nos boy everyone is allowed to an opinion you don't need to put in there head.
Just because some guys are running fast with nos and you couldn't on your srx you don't have to get all defebsive,lol
 
it's not that I couldn't,,,,, My srx ran PLENTY FAST with the nitrous on it... snowcrazy totalled that sled out because he was going too fast!!! Couldn't handle the HORSEPOWER!!!! My friends at the NHRA wouldn't let me play with nitrous.. its still a SORE SUBJECT,,, THANKS for bringing it up again PRO116!!!!!!!!
 
So what do we have here:
1. I think we all believe that building your own nitrous kit and reading the book will yield you the most power for racing.
2. Gary also is ok with the notion of the store bought airbox kits will give you as much power as you can clutch for on the trail, albeit less efficiently.

So what are we argueing about???? Lol

I dont have ANY IDEA on what kind of cylinder temperatures you have on a 4 stroke.. You may want to ask EJcamaro because he's played with nitrous on automotive engines....I don't know ANYTHING about snowmobile 4 stroke nitrous applications OR ANYTHING about fuel injected snowmobiles.. i know NOTHING about CLUTCHING and know VERY LITTLE about geometry!!!! I have a 1973 challenger (PRO e.t.) that I am having a REAL HARD time trying to get my 60 foots in the 1.300's !!!! I am KNOCKING at the door of being in the NINE SECOND CROWD,,so,,, I WISH I KNEW about nitrous systems on 4 strokes!!!! Its kinda hard trying to explain it to you because I also SUCKED in English classes in school!!! I prefered the SCIENCE classes over the MATH classes!!! Also the CHEMISTRY classes over BIOLOGY and ABSOLUTELY HATED the geography and HISTORY classes< i suppose the PHYSUCS (yeah, i spelled it right)classes were my favorite,,, I also took a few mechanical engineering classes which caused me to pick up ILLEGAL NARCOTICS!!! (just kidding)..
 
I am NOT OK with the storebought airbox kits!!!!! I am just agreeing with someone when they say that THEY WORK!!!! I'm NOT OK with it!!!!!
