With the Sled Pro Alignment tool, center to center is a snap. Now I realize the 3 standoff pins are all a different length to give correct off-set.On the SRX with the torque limiter installed,do the front and center stand-off pins need to have the shims installed underneath them?Do all the pins have to be the same?Got the rear standoff flush with the back of the sheave, the other 2 are about 1/16th off.I have to basically grab the clutch and lift the motor to align the other 2 flush. This means I will have to shim under the front motor mount behind the clutch.I know the off-set is for a good reason. When the clutch is spinning and engine is flexing, then the clutchs with align themselfs, but with a torque limiter, does the engine actually flex?If solid engine mounts are used, then it says to remove the 2 shims under the standoffs.I just want to get the offset correct guys. What is your experience with the tool,at least on the SRX?

you don't have solid mounts, you just have a torgue limiter. Use if for the flexable mounts. if 2 are within 1/16 thats pretty close. Maxdlx

I will continue to try to get it perfect tonight.Need it done so that I can get the carbs and airbox back on.Leaves are turning and starting to fall off the trees, winter is around the corner...LOL.

how many miles are on the sled. Mabe the motor mounts have some wear to them. Maxdlx

I have only 3400 miles on this sled.Mounts are in good condition .Just no way in the world you can line up all 3 standoffs at the same time with the back of the sheave. If I line up the rear one first, the other 2 are about a good 1/16: in to much.If I line up the front and middle ones flush to sheave, then the rear one is off about 1/8 ".I cannot twist the engine anymore. There is only so much play in each motor mount.
Just want to make sure the Sled Pro Tool was assembled properly from factory. The first standoff peg has a heavy washer under it,the middle one has a thinner washer and the rear standoff has nothing under it.Is this going the right direction.Seems if you reverse end for end with the washers, lineup to rear of sheave would be more close.Anyways..the way it is now from no washer rear peg to washers increasing in thickness on the next 2 pegs, how could you line up flush on the rear of the clutch sheave anyways if the standoffs are increasing in length from right to left. Now there is some angling going on here and I thought that we had to offset the clutches, but that should be parallel to each other..the offset, not angling off line.According to the manual, offset should be around .53 to .64 inches. But that should be a parallel space right, not an angled spacing. This is really wierd now.Give me a break!!!!!#$%&*

trying!!!!

Did some searches on the offset..The way my tool came with the shims under 2 standoff's are correct.I have to really twist the engine back on the mag side to even hope to align the 3 standoff's.But there is no more adjustment on the motor mount holes.Do I have to make the holes bigger in the motor mounts so that I can twist the motor more.I am going to take the 4 bolts of the front mounts and the 1 bolt off theback mount mag side.I'll just leave the 1 bolt in on the rearount PTO side, next to the torque limiter. Then I'll twist the motor like that to see if it will move to align my 3 standoffs. If it does, then I'll have to make the adjustment holes in the mounting plates longer.Hope this amount of twist won't screw up the mounting of my triple pipes into the silencer inlets.#$%&*

Did you happen to take your jackshaft out recently? You will want to make sure that it is in alignment as well. Take a straight edge and make sure the top gear is inline with the bottom gear in the chaincase. Maybe it's not the same for the Yami's but this helped fix a slight alignment issue I had with my clutches.

Clutch Help

I'm no pro, but this is what I did with my 03viper with a torque limiter (richierich)...
1) adjusted the primary to the secondary using the pro-tool (RICHIERICH) without any adjustment of the torque limiter- in other words, no load
2) confirmed offset with a yami-brand tool (royal distributing)
3) reinstalled the pro-tool and adjusted load on the limiter- just until I felt a little drag when lifting off the pro-tool at the primary.
4) installed the belt... ran engine on stand, hot ok, cold, there was some belt squeal...played with the shims on the secondary...all is good

On a 01 sxr700, we had to literally pry the engine into alignment...it's a great tool...
Here are some photos...hope this helps out...

I will try again on the weekend.I will loosen every bolt there is on the engine mounts, fram and engine. Then loosen the limiter and see if it will wiggle more over under sheave lines up with standoff's on Pro Tool.

theblues if that is what your belt looks like in the picture after you aligned the clutches then those tools are junk.

Not sure what you mean...explain please...like the whole quote said I'm no pro...but if you have more experience, maybe you can help me out and feelfree to guide me in the right direction...thnks, I hate to throw out good tools...LoL...

electric start sleds

The ring gear sits behind the inside clutch sheave and the three pins (standoffs) from the pro tool (blue tool) rest flush against the ring gear...the (yellow tool) will not work with a sled that has electric start. Hope this helps
Note: the pro tool does both centre to centr & offset...where as the yellow tool does only offset non-electric...in other words, I would need three tools to do the same job as the pro tool

Yahoo!!!!!!!!!!

Well I think I finally got them damn clutches lined up.Took 3-4 attempts at tightening and backing off and tightening again and shifting it.Could be only a paper tickness off on the middle standoff, otherwise I am happy with it.Will get the secondary on and check it's sideplay yet and that will be done.
:o| ;)! :WayCool:

Dead On!!!!

Made 1 more attempt at it,loosened rear bolts, pushed motor one more time with a 2 x2 against the clutch bolt just a tad.Locked rear bolts up again. Now it is perfectly in alignment and offset...dead on even.

Well seca I can tell from the picture that the offset is way off the belt angles in toward the center of the machine from the primary to the secondary. I use a staight edge to align clutches. Put the staight edge down in the secondary and lign by making sure the outside edge of the staight edge is centered in the primary. And you can measure off from the staight edge to see if your motor is twisted or not. Just make sure your staight edge is staight and stays plum in the secondary.

How do you do the center to center while doing this? Sounds like it could take some time to get it set up?
