I said the same thing about 4strokes......until i drove one.....

im going to be looking for an 08 nytro this summer....:D
 
I guess I went to far far too say I wont buy a four stroke. I have been looking at alot of them, and I was over doing it, lol! I havent been able to ride one more then around a house so it may be true that until you ride it out on the trails you cant tell if you like it or not.
On the other hand also, for some reason I have seen alot of them and just dont feel for them still. It's not really the motor, I guess the design maybe, I dont know. Maybe I have just been on a yami for so long I just want to try another too. I'm not getting rid of my yami unless a nice viper or similar pops up, so I guess I kinda want another sled that is totally different so I can ride whatever I feel like the day I go, lol.
I am going to say one thing though.. I have to be honest and say that the older rev's, NOT THE XP, have very good quality design, and fit and finish as the yami's do. My buddies beat the absolute hell out of their revs and I have to be honest they look in great condition after every single season, they dont show any signs of miles or wear when their seasons done. My yami always shows signs of a season gone by.. But I know yami is still better quality all over. Now I have ridden a new revXP and I have to say they not only made it lighter in good ways but they took ALL the good fit n finish qualities they had and threw it out the window for light weight. Yamaha does not and I can never see them ever being that stupid. The new XP does not even have a dipstick for the chain case, or even a plug now.. there is many things they deleted for it to be lighter. Yamaha always keeps quality on top, which I respect. I am going to keep looking and if I get a doo, I will still own an awesome yami. If I get a newer yami too, then I will have two awesome yamahas, so either way I feel very good to ride blue. I put over 1200miles on my sled this year since dec. I think most of all my back is begging for a better set-up no matter what that may be. My family used to race doos back in the day and the things I said I liked about two stokes are just in my blood, and a four stroke just hasnt mixed in yet. I look at it like this though. We will all own a fourstroke at some point in the future of snowmobiling.. I am just not ready yet I dont think, but we will see lol!!

I considered a four stroke dirt bike back in '04 but they were hard to start once hot. Bought a two stroke instead, changed the jetting and now I can ride at any speed without fouling a plug. Many people who bought four stroke bikes have gone back to two strokes. Rebuilds are less costly, no oil change after every other ride. Four strokes are a good idea, but why abandon two strokes completely. Thats my biggest gripe with Yamaha. I love my sxr especially after having the shocks rebuilt for my weight, I feel it rides as good as anything right now. I have no plans to get a newer sled, this one still runs great after 12,700 miles. I drove an RS Vector for a few miles, was not impressed enough to go to the other side. By the way, four strokes exhaust also stinks, not a s bad as a two stroke and with the exhaust exiting out the back, your gear does not get soaked like a two stroke, my riding gear never gets inside my truck, it all stays in the trailer.

I considered jumping ship to DOO last year, but after adding a seat and handlebar riser, I'm very much happy with my viper for another couple of years. It will be even better once I get the edge skid installed. The seat riser really helps centering your weight making it feel more like a REV. I know it will be perfect once I get the ProAction pulled out of it.

I still want a yzf 426/450 for a supermotard. If it does not start easlily when hot, I will have some buddies push me until it starts. Thats the noce thinga about track days:)

When i first rode the RSrage (early vector 136) I liked it, but it did not ahve the snort my xc600sp had. then I rode the nytros this year, and I want one bad. there is not much of an advantage for the riding I do to have my xc over the nytro. I have no clue about top end, but as long as the nytro does 100mph I would be happy. I rode an 08 vector LTX, back to back with a Nytro rtx, and it is almost unbelievable that the nytro has a motor based on the vector's. While I liked the original rx1, vector, and Apex, the nytro actually has me thinking I wouldn't miss anything about the XC if I got a new nytro. (though I would keep the xc)

the development has evolved that much since the early vectors to the new nytro.

maybe after I get my house this spring, and a replacement for my 2 mustangs (BMW 540 /6 looks to fit the bill), I might get a newer sled. That may be as early as next fall.

well I got a line to a complete mint 2006 polaris m-10 with 600 miles on it for about 600 bucks, so I might buy that and use it on this sled, or try to find a cheaper viper and build it up a bit.

well I bought the m-10. 2006, fox shocks. 600 miles on it. Sled it was on blew up and the owner needed money asap. heres some pics.

Where's your second sled??? never had a m-10 have and bought a rx1 for the expert x but ended up I kind of liked the rx1 and I still have a viper that runs and handles great and rides pretty good with the shock update.My point in buying the rx1 was for the skid for the viper and switch the skid from the viper to the rx1 and sell it(rx1) but we can change are minds and have two pretty good sleds. You said you needed a change well you would have a good change and get to know a new sled and it's the same brand and is proven somewhat reliable. Yes they are all good sleds different brands and all have their faults. That m-10 should work better than the skid you have in there by far.
 
The thing that scares me about the revs is how easy the front bulkheads bend on them! What they call the flying nun(bulkhead) bends on them very easily. Have had numerous friends bend them after low speed hits. And i mean low speed , under 15 mph. One guy just caught his carbide going up over a culvert at 10-15 mph and theres $3000 worth of damage. Dealer estimate of course. But i can`t own a sled that can`t take a beating without being trashed.
 
I think that will make you happy with the old sled, now you can spend so me time looking for a viper or something if its what you want :) i always LOVED the look of the 01 sxr 700 with a low windy. just the right look with the right amount of blue and silver :) can get those decently priced now.

I think I heard somebody say that ski-doo no longer has spare spark plug holders, They now come with spare piston holders!!! LOL. They should consider this option anyway. Old guy I know, Rev 500HO, 300 miles, JUNK!!!

They dont make a 500 ho. they make a 500 ss though, that what you mean. If he has an 07 500ss they had a recall on the carbs. They were made from mukini (dont know how it is spelled) with bad jets and were blowing the 500ss up within 500 miles of new ownership.
 
I gotta say something though.. I hear really bad motor horror stories about skidoo all the time and yet I know and ride with like 50 guys with all kinds of models and years of skidoos and they all beat the crap out of them. Most of them dont ever season their sleds even when spring comes, just park and leave. Alot of them have like 7k plus on their sleds with ABSOLUTELY no issues at all with the whole sled.. I dont understand it.
 
It must have been a ss, it was a 2007, I dont follow thier models to close, either way, you buy a brand new sled, make plans, go north, and the damn thing squeaks itself!!
That's gotta make you mad, I Know they arent all bad. I was in Irons, Cadillac trails this weekend and there sure is a lot of ski-doo's out there. I guess because they are inexpensive, same is true for thier resale value. Stick to yamaha, soon all sleds will HAVE to be 4 stroke and yamaha is on the leading edge of technology. Just wait to see the problems ski-doo has with thier new 4 stroke.

I want to stick to yamaha but I also want a rev. I would like a yami 4 stroke, just dont think Im ready to commit yet. But I'm still looking. I want a yami and rev, I dont think me buying a 4 stroke yami is going to change that, lol! We will see!
