Wire it for a battery tender.

Yep.

That is your best option.

BTW, putting the battery on a wood block instead of directly on the concrete is a myth to prolong battery life. They debunked this myth on mythbusters quite a while back.

Now taking the battery inside and into a warm indoor closet is a good idea if you don't just simply wire up a battery tender.

FWIW, I have the original battery in my 97 TLS.

yeah, the plastics no longer allow the battery to get drained from the damp concrete. battery tender is the way to go for sure

your reffering to a trickle charger... correct? gotta get me one of those... somethin a little less aggresive then a fullblown charger.

Frame sliders are in the mail along with the tank protector... should be here this week... i'm gonna throw those on this weekend... AS for flush mounts, I have my eyes on the hotbodies smoke lens LED signals i already took the reflectors off the bike, and its a cleaner look now, i like!.http://www.motosport.com/street/pro...yURL=&rlid=home&rcode=900429853657460#reviews

and i think i need this relay for it too....

Make sure you have the proper gear before you start buying bling.

X2, get all the gear you can for sure!

X3

Make sure you have a good helmet, a good pair of leather gloves, and a leather riding jacket. That mesh crap shreds if you ever do need protection.

A good pair of riding boots (waterproof) is a good idea as well. I would also suggest a pair of leather riding pants that zip to the jacket so you get full body coverage in case it is needed.

A site I recommend for gear is www.newenough.com

They have new overstocks and leftovers at great prices. I have saved hundreds of $$ by buying most of my stuff from them.

I bought all my stuff from newenough as well, GREAT STUFF!!! got my joerocket jacket at like half price.

i'm lookin at a a flat black shoei helmet i forget the model but its one of their top models. along with a nice jacket....

I have a Shoei RF1000 helmet, and I like it a lot. I had an older Shoei RF helmet, and it was nice as well.

Personally, I would proabably try some helmets on to see what fits good to you, Shoei's fit different than Arai's and HJC or other brands.

Also, the Shoei's while nice, are pricey. You can get a very nice HJC or other brand for a good 150 less than a shoei or Arai, Suomy etc.

As long as it is DOT and Snell rated, go for it. I really like the features and looks of Scorpion Helmets. Some have built in sun shields that flip down or up if you need it.

yummyy....

I bought my scorpion from them and have not a single complaint. like it enough I really want to get the snow conversion kit for it and start using it as my only helmet for bike and sled. the prices can not be argued with too, same or more features for less $$$, its a winning combo :)

yea i have a HJC snowmobile helmet that i used last year when i was riding my buddies bikes... i just sawpped out the electric visor for a street visor.... thanks, i'll look into the scorpions....

yeah, the scorpion I have is the cheaper one and I never got hot in it, and with the vents closed it was warm, even when I went out last year when it was about 15* :)

Tom excise tax is the tax INCLUDED in the price of the bike... Not the tax after the sale (sales tax on the price) so if i got the bike for 8200 from the dealer from the manufacturer... the excise is included in that basic bike cost without sales tax.... so like with anything.... lets say gas, its 2 bucks a gallon... tax is included on it... the federal government gets their share of it. lets say 25% and the state gets some and the gas station get some. you do not pay sales tax on that...

Make sense?

I thought that was the tax I paid on my bowflex. you know, the excise tax.... ;)

I did not know the hillbillies reached up into New England. ;)

So Joe, what does that mean $$ wise then? Do you have a breakdown of the taxes they charged you?
